PROTECTION LEGISLATION NEEDED

We the undersigned, residents of the Springs, Yalaha, Florida, respectfully petition, Representative Larry Metz regarding the following:

The Springs recently applied for and was awarded a grant from the Adopt-A-Lake program of Lake County.  The award consisted of 300 native Florida aquatic plants which needed to be planted in the shoreline.  Many residents volunteered in the planting and we have since purchased an additional 100 plants in our effort to preserve the shoreline, establish a barrier to the erosion and create a favorable habitat for fish and wildlife as well as to help clean the lakes pollution.

The plants along the shoreline need protection from both boats and bathers so  they can grow and multiply  for the betterment of our lake.  We believe this can easily be accomplished by legislation making the planting of native Florida aquatic plants be designated as an improvement to the lake and its shoreline.

We ask that legislation be enacted stating this is an improvement for the health of Lake Harris including the shoreline and therefore should be protected from any form of damage by any means by the populous.
