Help SAVE Deaf Dalmatian Puppies from Being Euthanized

Even if you have never had the pleasure of owning and/or raising a deaf dog, you as an animal lover can understand why these rules and regulations are so upsetting. Any 'Club' or 'Kennel' who can find it okay to euthanize puppies under 4 weeks of age better have good reason. These 'Clubs' do not. In their eyes, they want to breed and achieve the "Perfect Dalmatian". As you can gather, that means if anything is wrong with these pure bred pups they will be "Humanely destroyed by a Veterinarian" sometimes before allowing them to reach 4 weeks of age. PhD George M. Strain agrees with these rules, stating that "IF YOU ARE THE OWNER OF A DEAF DALMATIAN, and are having problems with the dog, don't feel "guilty" about it. Consider starting over with a healthy, hearing pup. (And DO have the deaf dog put down.)" Following that already awful statement with "IF YOU ARE A VETERINARIAN, please advise your clients to put down any deaf pups they may have bred. PLEASE do not make it anymore difficult for your client by suggesting that perhaps a "special home" may be found. With the enormous surplus of unwanted dogs in this country, there is no need to preserve dogs with problems such as deafness." Anyone who has this outlook on the breeding of dogs shouldn't even be allowed to be part of a Club that call themselves "Dog Lovers". He goes on to state that most deaf puppies will become aggressive and snappy when startled. Well, DUH! They can't hear you! As the owner of a deaf puppy myself, I can say that his statements of deaf dogs being "Aggressive" and "snappy" when startled are completely untrue. In fact, Any dog can become snappy when frightened. Humans do it, too. It's called Fight or Flight and It's totally natural. What I want you to sign this petition for is not just to calm the woes of a fellow concerned animal lover, it's because these puppies will NEVER have the chance to even prove how loyal, smart and loving they can be. These people steal the lives of thousands of potentially AMAZING family companions and im sorry but I can't just let that keep happening. Yes, raising deaf puppies does take a lot of work (And Patience..) but my Lady is the sweetest most loyal dog I have ever had. All it takes is literally a few extra hours of training a day. Use hand signals instead of verbal commands. Buy a vibrating collar to get your pup's attention. Why is deafness considered such a bad thing? Let me ask you this: Would you throw your baby in the trash because, to the world, he/she was thought of as "Imperfect" "Untrainable" and "A waste of effort?" No, you wouldn't. Animals should not be treated any different. These puppies don't have a voice to stand up for themselves, so I, along with the help of your signatures, will. Stop the awful euthanization of these puppies and let's show the DCA, AKC, and all those doctors and Governers of these Clubs that deaf dogs CAN have a wonderful life. These people just have to let them live it, first.

Cross-Check my info at the Official DCA site (www.thedca.org) and see for yourself how heartless these people are. Yes, there might be a surplus of unwanted dogs, but what these people are saying to do to your pups is down right cruel. You'd have to go through me before you tried to take my deaf pup away. I couldn't imagine living without her.
