Charlotte County declares that the employee never repeatedly stabbed the trapped animals and therefore there is no violation of the Florida Statue Cruelty to Animals. No one will be punished!
WE DO NOT AGREE WITH THE FINDINGS DELCARED IN THE PRESS RELEASE. SEVERAL OTHER FACTORS WERE NOT ADDRESSED IN THE INVESTIGATION.
THE ANIMALS WERE LEFT IN THE TRAPS FOR UP TO THREE DAYS, WITHOUT FOOD OR WATER BEFORE BEING KILLED. ALSO THEY WERE LEFT TO BLEED TO DEATH AFTER THE SPEARING. THE ANIMALS DID NOT DIE INSTANTLY. THESE OCCURRENCES ARE ADDITIONAL VIOLATIONS OF THE STATUTE NOT ADDRESSED BY THE COUNTY PRESS RELEASE AND THE INVESTIGATION WHICH WAS NOT FAIR IN OUR OPINION.-
Please Tell Charlotte County To Stop Spearing and Torturing Trapped Animals And Fire Those Responsible! This Is Intentional Animal Cruelty!
These people are still working for Charlotte County as if nothing happened!
To solve the problem THEY MUST GO! THEY BROKE THE LAW!
Charlotte County Florida Employees are intentionally torturing trapped hogs by spearing and slashing them and leaving them to die. The evidence was captured on a County Surveillance camera. This is a clear violation of Florida Statute 828.12 which forbids “excessive or repeated infliction of unnecessary pain or suffering upon any animal.” Charlotte County refuses to fire those responsible and their superior who is to be held accountable for these brutal acts.

We want Charlotte County to stop this activity and dismiss those employees ASAP. Charlotte County cannot leave these employees on the job.
Leaving these people on the job will not resolve what happened and is not the message that our citizens deserve.
This petition will not end until all the criteria below are fulfilled:
- The county employee with the spear is fired
- His superior who was aware of this activity for months and is to be held accountable is fired.
- All County trapping is confirmed to have ended
- All the county traps have been removed from the parks and preserves and the numbers and inventory confirmed.
- A licensed credible trapper or trappers is contracted to perform all trapping on county property parks or preserves
