We Need This Stopped NOW! Help Preserve the safety of our neighborhood!!

We live in a wonderful neighborhood, that is dominated with loving families that many of us have been here for over 20 years, Near Ann RD. and the 95; specifically on Ann RD., between Centennial Prkwy and Durango. We have plenty of amazing small owners of stores close by, with bigger retailers a street over on Tropical Prkwy, at 5 min or less drive. We have a small bare land that is zoned for commercial use at Ann RD and Leggett , that sits across a semi-busy street from a beautiful community center that is a host to preschoolers and a cute mini park. On the otherside of the lot is a wonderful church that fills up with blissful people several days a week. There is a house that specifically sits on the land and a neighborhood with small children butted up to the lot. The church and community center are protected entities, please, keep that in mind.

Terrible Herbst wants to put in a gas station, car wash (sneakly off the table for now, but reserved for future installment), with a drive-through. Two, 24-hour commercial businesses where it is ONLY zoned for business professional. Terrible Herbst has brought forth a proposal to change Centennial Hills master plan on that lot from the business professional to C1 commercial.

In the matter of a mile and a half radius, we already have 7 gas stations, 4 of which, are Terrible Herbst. Of those 4, they all are within a mile and less. National statistics show, over 5,000 gas station fires happen annually, meaning, over 3 a day. If, a fire were start, there is only 2, yes ONLY 2 entry/exit points for those family's, church, and businesses to evacuate through, while emergency vehicles also accessing the same ONLY 2 routes.

My neighborhood sits one block west ( NE corner of Ann RD. and Durango) from the lot, that is located on Ann RD and Leggett, and where I live, people already cut through from Tropical to Ann rd, speeding. With the development of Terrible Herbst, this traffic will only increase and that means even more chances of cars going through my sons room, living on the busy corner that we do.

Crime has been on a steady incline in our beautiful neighborhood and we are battling a losing battle that will only keep getting worse, if this goes through. Children will not be able to safely play at the community center anymore, walkers and runners will no longer be safe with the traffic increase. We have water wells versus city water and the astronomical damages that will happen from gasoline leakage, takes our water away.

Please, even if you do not know this area, imagine a 24-hour gas station with a 24-hour drive through literally right next door to your families home, squeezed on a small small lot. With that in mind, as a parent, friend, relative, please sign this petition, TO STOP THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS FROM ALLOWING THIS ZONING CHANGE TO HAPPEN! Let's help preserve family communities and let the city of Las Vegas city council know, we want our neighborhoods back! Families over money!!
