Demand welfare control within dog grooming parlours and stop animal abuse.

Pinning dogs down, shouting, mental and physical abuse and even death. If you think this is just cases of neglect and cruelty by uncaring animal owners in other countries than the UK, then think again. Some of this abuse is a regular occurance in Dog Grooming Parlours, and not just behind closed doors but also practiced in Teaching Colleges. Dogs and other animals should not be subjected to this abuse, demand that the Five Freedoms are the absolute minimum standard applied in all dog grooming parlours, demand that dog groomers are fully trained in canine behaviour and handling skills and help me try to pursuade in favour of legislation and control strategies so that these standards an be introduced and policed effectively.
If you have been involved in any negative experiences with your dog groomer or while training at college then please let me know. I am collating as many reports of individual experiences as possible, in full confidence. When I have further evidence I will be able to move forward towards stopping those that commercially exploit domestic dogs. I fully operate and investigate within the Data Protection Act.

Congratulations on your recent posting as Secretary of State for Envoronment, Food and Rural Affairs.
I am writing to you to expose the high level of abuse to dogs and other animals that takes place within dog grooming parlours and in teaching establishments including burning, hitting, pinning down and restraining with the exessive use of force. There have also been a number of deaths in dog grooming parlours in the UK from mishandling, lack of knowledge, expertise and care.
I am asking if you would consider introducing further legislation and more stringent policing of private dog grooming parlours, larger more commercially aware centres (where there has been one death last year) animal care colleges and other private training etablishments and introduce more robust occupational standards within the industry so that adhering to the Five Freedoms has to be the very minimum standards.

Thank you to everybody that has signed this petition so far but we are only just half way in helping so many dogs that suffer in the hands of inexperienced, uncaring, uneducated and profit driven dog groomers and Colleges.
