Please sign and share this petition everywhere in an effort to get authorities in Sinclairville, N.Y. to permanently close the Call of the Wild Sanctuary that was founded and run by Jackie and Ken Wisniewski for at least 17 years. However, after monitoring the facility for several years without the owners abiding by proper care and upkeep, authorities received a search warrant where they went in to seize several exotic animals in deplorable condition and living in squalor. The Sanctuary must be closed immediately and the surviving owner punished for animal cruelty, abuse and neglect.

New York State Police and the Department of Environmental Conservation have been involved in investigations of the Call of the Wild Sanctuary for at least seven years where both Jackie and Ken Wisniewski seemed to have genuine care and love for the animals in their facility. Mr. Wisniewski passed on last October and Jackie is unable to abide by requirements to care for the animals.  A spokesperson for the International Fund for Animal Welfare states that “It’s a pretty sad situation. The owners definitely have cared about these animals, but they have lost the ability to continue caring for the animals. The owners of the property are saddened at the loss of the animals, but they don’t have permits to possess them so basically they knew this was coming." "However, the animals can be kept in better condition. There are places that will allow them to thrive better than here," states a DEC official.

Recently, Jackie Wisniewski has been running the sanctuary without help and lacking the means to properly care for and even feed the animals. The animals are quite thin and existing in filth. They were being kept illegally because the facility is running without a license. Through intervention, the animals are being moved to other sanctuaries in Colorado, New York and Florida.

Some of the animals seized from the 54-acre sanctuary included lions, wolves, bears and tigers along with some horses, cats and dogs. According to the DEC, three of the last four inspections of the Sinclairville sanctuary by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service led to unsatisfactory ratings due to what were described as “repeat deficiencies related to housing and care of the animals. Ending the illegal possession of dangerous, wild and exotic animals and ensuring the safety of the public is a top priority. I would like to thank our federal partner, USDA, and especially the tremendous efforts and assistance provided by the International Fund for Animal Welfare in locating the several organizations that agreed to permanently house the animals."

It is sad that Ms. Wisniewski did not reach out for help prior to now, putting all these animals in peril. It is understandable that, once she lost her husband, it was difficult to run this facility but what she did is not excusable and illegal. Yet the animals are paying the price.

New York State Police and the Department of Environmental Conservation - You need to have the Call to Wild Sanctuary in Sinclairville, NY closed down completely and charge the owner for allowing the animals to get to this poor condition. She knew she could not keep up with their care and no longer had a license; yet she continued to put the animals in danger through the inability to care for, clean up after and feed these animals. Despite her "good intentions," the animals have been suffering and she did have the ability to pick up a phone, ask for help way before now and save them. Her abuse and neglect led to the animals current condition!
