Shade the Stone Creek Swim Pool

Dear Residents of Woodbridge,

Once the summer starts, children want to go to the water to splash, play, dive, and swim. Our community has many swimming pools where not only children but anyone can have a wonderful time. All of the swimming pools are well maintained, clean and safe. But none of them has any kind of shade over the water. The sun, as enjoyable as it can be, is also dangerous. For people who love to swim but still care about sun protection, there is no place to go. The sun is very strong from early morning to late afternoon. Therefore it would be good to have at least one of the swimming pools covered. Since the Stone Creek Swimming Pool is the busiest pool in Woodbridge, I'm asking you to support, and the Board of Woodbridge Village Association to allow the installation of sun protective fabric or canopy covering at least some part of this pool. The Stone Creek Pool is home to the Woodbridge Swim Team. This team, with its many achievements, represents Woodbridge in Irvine and beyond. Children from the swim team spend many hours in this pool every day year round. The summer is the busiest time with more then 200 children attending swim practice. For many of them swimming has become a passion, an activity with dreams and humble goals. Unfortunately unlike other sports, in swimming there are no clothes or caps with a brim so the children are fully exposed to the sun.
For the children and families not participating in swimming lessons, this sun protective covering would be a refreshing place, safe from overexposure to the sun during the hours when swimming practice is not taking place (from 9:00 am to 3:00 and on the weekends).
