The consumption of Ireland's favourite food is falling and will continue to do so unless the Nation reinstate the potato as the No.1 choice at mealtimes.

Our culture, our history and our palettes are steeped in the spud. So if you don't want it to disappear off our plates make sure to support Ireland's favourite food and make your mark on the petition for National Potato Day!

Sam's Potatoes support National Potato Day!

Dear President Higgins and An Taoiseach Kenny,

The following people would like to see an official statement by one or both of you to nominate the Potato as Ireland's National Food.

The reason for this movement, is to ensure that the Potato still exists as Ireland's most famous food for the future and that the people of Ireland, the Irish farming community and the tastebuds and palettes of the Irish continue to enjoy it's most famous vegetable for generations to come.

If the falling consumption of Potatoes isn't met with a serious view, the industry will be no longer sustainable in the near future. We need people to start eating potatoes again.

We Need your help!

-Sam's Potatoes and all its supporters.
