Sign for sexual self-determination of disabled people

Can disabled people have sex? Yes, they can.  -  Do they need it? Yes, it's a natural need as well as eating, sleeping and being part of a social context. - But do we really help them to achieve all their needs? NO!!!

Sexuality has always been a taboo, but the subject is kept even more secret when it is related to a disabled person. People ignore (or pretend not to know) that most disabled people have the same sexual needs of able-body ones and that they can suffer the same consequences if they don’t satisfy those needs.

In Italy, in April 2014 Senator Sergio Lo Giudice submitted to the Parliament a bill to institute a system of sexual assistance for disabled people. The aim is to formally accept the idea that a self-determined life also includes sexual self-determination.

After more than 3 years, the bill has not been assigned yet to any Parliamentary Committee. Because of the general election coming in spring 2018, there is the risk to lose the opportunity to approve this law. In fact, all the bills presented in the previous Parliament, included Lo Giudice's one, will be cancelled in the newly elected Parliament.

This issue affects thousands of people and families. Let's not waste more time!! Ask the President of the Italian Senate, Pietro Grasso, to start the process to approve this law NOW!

Please, sign this petition and share it: your help is fundamental!

Why should we stop a progress many people could benefit from? Don't you agree we should have this law now?!
