Ban puppy sales in California

The HSUS estimates that animal shelters take in about 6-8 million dogs and cats every year in the US, 3-4 million of these poor animals are put to death because there is not enough good homes. Meanwhile, pet stores pump out puppies in a world that is bursting at the seams with unwanted, abused, and abandoned animals. Most puppies sold in pet stores come from mass-breeding facilities called puppy mills, even pet stores that claim they buy from breeders could be completely unaware that they are actually buying from puppmill brokers. Backyard breeders are really not "responsible" breeders because for every puppy or kitten who is produced by any breeder, an animal awaiting adoption at an animal shelter loses his or her chance at finding a home—and will be euthanized. Breeders kill shelter animals' chance to have a life. Please help stop the torture, abuse and neglect of innocent animals who desperately need loving homes. Pledge to never shop at pet stores that sell puppies. Make your voice heard, do not be afraid to call the manager or supervisor and tell them how you feel, any small act of kindness is never wasted.

We demand the sale of puppies in California pet stores be made illegal and pet adoptions replace it. We the undersigned pledge to never shop and support any pet store that sells puppies.
