The Medford Police Advisory Committee will be meeting next Tuesday January 21, 2014 at Medford City Hall, at 4:30pm in the Medford Room on the 3rd floor. The City Council is waiting to hear from this committee before they proceed with the Pit Bull ban. About this Petition
The City Council of Medford, OR, is proposing a potential ban on pit bulls. But this ban is not the solution for preventing incidents in which an animal acts aggressively.
It's not pit bulls as a breed who are the problem, but their owners. Dog owners whose animals act aggressively towards other animals must face stricter penalties. A ban on pit bulls unfairly discriminates against them.
Tell the City Council of Medford, OR, not to ban pit bulls and bully breed dogs!
The stereotyping of certain breeds of dogs as violent and aggressive needs to stop. Dogs like pit bulls and other bully breeds are no more vicious than any others. When an animal acts aggressively, the problem is that their owners are irresponsible.
All dogs that are included in the bully breed ban have been given a bad reputation by society. There is proof that dogs are what their owners make them. In testing done by the American Temperament Test Society, the American Pit Bull Terrier scored 86.8% on their temperament rating scale, beating out the ever-lovable Golden Retriever who scored an 85.2%.
The Medford City Council's potential pit bull ban is simply wrong and must be stopped.
