No child should Cross a road getting on or off a school bus

This is so No child crosses road getting on or off school bus in Onslow County and in the state of North Carolina as a whole. An Onslow County Student has died after someone ran the Stop sign on the school bus.

A teen was struck when he crossed the road around 6:40 a.m. Monday, March 27, 2017 in front of his house to catch his school bus.

I live on a different part of town and have to deal with this issue almost daily. We live on a very busy road; and despite several phone calls the school bus coordinator will not allow my children and neighbors children to get on and off the school bus safely on our side of the road. They still have to cross the busy road even though we have people who run the stop sign on the school bus on a weekly basis. This week alone it was three (3) vehicles in two (2) short days.

Law enforcement in the area says that they are going to start cracking down on these offenders. I want the school district in not only my county but the whole state to make it so no child has to cross a road to get on or off the school bus.

After signatures are gathered I, and any other parent, grandparent, care taker or other concerned citizen who would like to join me, will take the petition to the count officials as well as email it to the state Senate.
