My husband is in the military so we move and readjust to new environments every few years or so. We have recently moved to beautiful San Diego, CA. As much as we love it here the housing market is incredibly inflated so we are reluctant to buy a home here. Example: 400 sq ft studio listed no less than $600.000.00! We are wasteing thousands by renting, currently spending $2500.00 a month on a 900 sq for apartment. I have found an alternative where we could buy an older model yacht that is agreeably beautiful for $129,000.00 and it has more sq footage than our apartment. Including the slip it is anchored in our housing expenses drop dramatically. We would love the marina/ocean lifestyle and more importantly, we will be here for at least 4 years and would save $50,000.00 in rent alone, utilities are included with our slip. Here is the argument... I want this because I think it would be a wonderful thing to experience together and save us so much money. His side, he is worried that it's a bad investment. I feel it's a bad investment to live the way we are now and even if it's not the best investment we still saved $50,000 that we wouldn't have normally had and made unforgettable memories with the boat and the money. I feel that we are only given one life and for us we may only have a good 40 more years left on this earth, god willing. Shouldn't we make a change like this? Shouldn't we stop being afaraid of trying something new? I hope with this petition, I can show my husband he is being to conservative about traditional living. Please show your support
