Support the Peace Plan That Brings Iraq Troops Home!

Target: George W. Bush, President
Sponsored by: American Respect
Since our invasion of Iraq acts of terrorism around the world have increased by over 100%. No number of troops can solve this problem.

But Senator Joesph Biden, along with Leslie Gelb, President Emeritus of the Council on Foreign Relations, have proposed a five-point plan that would bring peace to region without deploying more U.S. troops.

The only way to hold Iraq together and create the conditions that allow our armed forces to responsibly withdraw is to give Shiites, Sunnis, and Kurds incentives to pursue their interests peacefully and to forge a sustainable political settlement. To accomplish this, President Bush should endorse the Biden-Gelb five-point plan, which would:
  1. Maintain a unified Iraq by decentralizing it in to regions. A central government would be left in charge of common interests.
  2. Guarantee Sunnis a proportionate share of oil revenue so that each group has an incentive to maximize oil production, making oil the glue that binds the country together.
  3. Create a massive jobs program while increasing reconstruction aid -- especially from the oil-rich Gulf states -- but tying it to the protection of minority rights.
  4. Hold an international conference that would produce a regional nonaggression pact and create a Contact Group to enforce regional commitments.
  5. Begin the phased redeployment of U.S. forces and withdraw most of them by the end of 2007.
This plan is consistent with Iraq's constitution and has been endorsed by many experts on Iraq. It will help rebuild the country while bringing our troops home.

TELL PRESIDENT BUSH TO SUPPORT SENATOR BIDEN'S FIVE-POINT PLAN FOR PEACE, NOT THE DEPLOYMENT OF MORE TROOPS TO IRAQ!

Dear President Bush,

I am writing to urge you to support the five-point Iraq peace plan that Senator Biden introduced to the Council on Foreign Relations on November 21, 2005.

The problems in Iraq are growing daily. In Iraq's elections, 90 percent of the votes went to sectarian lists. Ethnic militias increasingly are the law in Iraq, and they have infiltrated the official security forces. Sectarian cleansing has begun in mixed areas, with 200,000 Iraqis fleeing their homes in recent months for fear of sectarian reprisals. And massive unemployment feeds the ranks of sectarian militias and criminal gangs.

No number of troops can solve these problems. The only way to hold Iraq together and create the conditions for our armed forces to responsibly withdraw is to give Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds incentives to pursue their interests peacefully and to forge a sustainable political settlement.

The five-point plan outlined by Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr. and Leslie Gelb, President Emeritus of the Council on Foreign Relations, offers a better way. This plan is consistent with Iraq's constitution and has been endorsed by many experts on Iraq. Please support Senator Biden’s plan to bring peace and order to Iraq – and bring our troops home!

Please at least consider this plan regardless of it's origin. Staying the course is not the only option.

To support our troops let's bring them home. This plan makes sense.

I'm for doing whatever it takes to get us out of their ill-conceived, ill-prepared for war of aggression (its a war for oil, NOT a war on terror, the terror is what this administration WANTS the US to feel)...hell, I can't believe someone hasn't inpeached the brain-dead fool. I just wish SOMEONE would blow the bastard so we could FINALLY be rid of him.

If anyone still feels safe with George W Bush and his war enriched buddies I would have no problem classifying them as mentally impaired. The only thing worse than that is the countless numbers of Americans who still support him. Our very lives and freedoms are being taken from us.

We'll never know until we make the committment and bring our troops home, what the Iraqis might do...Once we leave, somebody has to pick up the pieces we scattered on these people and as long as we remain there, they will never step forward and take the reins. We are Occupiers and these people want us gone, yesterday, so they can live as they wish to without, G.W's dictatorship. No more troops sent out to win this unwinnable war, we brought on them. Mission will Be Accomplished, once the last of our Troops are home>> Let G.W. "stay the course" and fight his WAR, but let's not help him anymore...we've lost too much already in lives and money!!!

Please listen to the intelligent plan of Joseph Biden to honorably and effectively exit from Vietnam - I mean Iraq! Our presence there has become an anathema to the people of Iraq. We are no longer helping them. This is plan to help them stand on their own and distribute power with equality.

Our military presence is breeding more terrorism. We should end Pres. Bush's unjust, unnecessary war in Iraq.
