Support the Peace Plan That Brings Iraq Troops Home!

Target: George W. Bush, President
Sponsored by: American Respect
Since our invasion of Iraq acts of terrorism around the world have increased by over 100%. No number of troops can solve this problem.

But Senator Joesph Biden, along with Leslie Gelb, President Emeritus of the Council on Foreign Relations, have proposed a five-point plan that would bring peace to region without deploying more U.S. troops.

The only way to hold Iraq together and create the conditions that allow our armed forces to responsibly withdraw is to give Shiites, Sunnis, and Kurds incentives to pursue their interests peacefully and to forge a sustainable political settlement. To accomplish this, President Bush should endorse the Biden-Gelb five-point plan, which would:
  1. Maintain a unified Iraq by decentralizing it in to regions. A central government would be left in charge of common interests.
  2. Guarantee Sunnis a proportionate share of oil revenue so that each group has an incentive to maximize oil production, making oil the glue that binds the country together.
  3. Create a massive jobs program while increasing reconstruction aid -- especially from the oil-rich Gulf states -- but tying it to the protection of minority rights.
  4. Hold an international conference that would produce a regional nonaggression pact and create a Contact Group to enforce regional commitments.
  5. Begin the phased redeployment of U.S. forces and withdraw most of them by the end of 2007.
This plan is consistent with Iraq's constitution and has been endorsed by many experts on Iraq. It will help rebuild the country while bringing our troops home.

TELL PRESIDENT BUSH TO SUPPORT SENATOR BIDEN'S FIVE-POINT PLAN FOR PEACE, NOT THE DEPLOYMENT OF MORE TROOPS TO IRAQ!

Dear President Bush,

I am writing to urge you to support the five-point Iraq peace plan that Senator Biden introduced to the Council on Foreign Relations on November 21, 2005.

The problems in Iraq are growing daily. In Iraq's elections, 90 percent of the votes went to sectarian lists. Ethnic militias increasingly are the law in Iraq, and they have infiltrated the official security forces. Sectarian cleansing has begun in mixed areas, with 200,000 Iraqis fleeing their homes in recent months for fear of sectarian reprisals. And massive unemployment feeds the ranks of sectarian militias and criminal gangs.

No number of troops can solve these problems. The only way to hold Iraq together and create the conditions for our armed forces to responsibly withdraw is to give Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds incentives to pursue their interests peacefully and to forge a sustainable political settlement.

The five-point plan outlined by Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr. and Leslie Gelb, President Emeritus of the Council on Foreign Relations, offers a better way. This plan is consistent with Iraq's constitution and has been endorsed by many experts on Iraq. Please support Senator Biden’s plan to bring peace and order to Iraq – and bring our troops home!

I don't know if I agree with Sen. Biden's plan? But, I know I want the troops sent home. We do not belong in the Middle East ! I was against this war, even from 9/11 ! Our President is untruthful and a manipulator! Let's just realize, "it's all about Oil and Greed" ! USA now has another "Viet Nam" to get out of ! If this continues we must all prepare to descend on Washington, D.C. to protest ! This War must not continue to advance, any further.

WHY GET OUT OF IRAQ NOW? Because of this utterly failed war; because of the Bush-instigated biggest annual deficit in history; the cutting of unemployment benefits for more out of work Americans than any president in U.S. history; Bush's cutting healthcare benefits for war veterans; because of the most secretive and unaccountable presidency of any in U.S. history; Bush's withdraw from the World Court of Law; denial of Geneva Conventions; first ever-refusal of UN election inspectors during 2002; because making the US hated by the world for preemptive strikes justified by lies has INCREASED terrorism; because removal of more freedoms and civil liberties than any administration in US history is already a Bush war against social justice in America; because war is turning the strongest US economy in history into a deficit your great-great-great grandchildren couldn't hope to pay back; because disengagement from the conflict of Israel/Palestine has created the most hostile relations there in 30 years; because holding secret energy meetings and deals and having more criminal close friends than any president in US history is of itself conducive to war. Mr. Bush, DON'T YOU HAVE A MIRROR? TAKE A LOOK IN IT, MAN. LISTEN TO YOUR DAD. LISTEN TO YOUR GENERALS. LISTEN TO YOUR TROOPS. AND LISTEN AGAIN TO GOD, BECAUSE DUDE, I THINK IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN THE MAESTRO TALKING THROUGH YOU.

As the ranking member of the Foreign Affairs committee, I belive that Senator Biden's plan deserves some serious consideration.

Your failure to assist in the political needs of the Iraqi government and it's people proves that don't want a resolution to this war. You are doing a grand job working for the military-industrial complex that President Eisenhower warned us about.

Enough is enough! I can't believe we invaded a sovernign country which posed no threat to us, whatsoever, none, and then decided to meddle with its affairs. Enough of this abominable monstrosity of a misguided policy. Enough!
