Bush/Cheney: Don't Play Politics With Our Wildlife!

The Bush/Cheney Administration's politically-motivated draft "recovery plan" for northern spotted owls threatens to undermine years of progress in protecting these owls and the old-growth forests they need to survive.
Urge officials at the Fish & Wildlife Service to scrap the current plan and reconvene the Northern Spotted Owl Recovery Team to develop a real recovery plan that benefits the spotted owl, not just the timber industry.
There's just a few days left to take action. The Fish & Wildlife Service will only be accepting comments on this draft recovery plan until this Friday, August 24th, so thank you for standing up for the northern spotted owl today.

This issue goes beyond the owls and other wildlife. Tearing down old forests hurts everyone-- because when we tear down old trees, we are depleting our oxygen supply. The more trees we cut down, the less oxygen produced and released into our atmosphere, and that hurts the whole planet.

Putting corporations in charge of wildlife preservation is brilliant. While you're at it, why not just harvest all trees and then concrete pave the entire country. For just once, think something besides corporate interests. If they can't plan tree planting ahead enough, the hell with them. Canadian wood is just as good and is reasonably priced.
