Urge the FDA to improve access to the morning-after pill
Target:U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Acting Commissioner, Andrew von Eschenbach Sponsored by:NARAL Pro-Choice America
The Bush administration has broken its promise to make a decision on the morning-after pill by September 1.
American women have waited more than two years for the FDA to decide whether women can purchase the morning-after pill over the counter. The delays persist despite The Bush administration's explicit promise to the U.S. Senate that the FDA would stop dragging its feet and issue a decision by September 1.
Now that Lester Crawford has abruptly resigned his post as Commissioner after just three months on the job, we have a real opportunity for progress under new FDA leadership.
Join us in telling the FDA that Americans are fed up with anti-choice politics getting in the way of sound science and women's access to birth control. Sign our petition to the FDA today!
We signed the “Urge the FDA to improve access to the morning-after pill” petition!

There is what feels like a million reasons that I have, too many obviously to list here, but a few that are top on my list would be: Men have Viagra, why can't women get this pill? It's legal to get birth control, abortions, etc., why can't women have this option too? Why do male politicians have the power to choose what they feel is right for women? This is just another way for big government to control women. It's got to stop! Women have rights!

A woman still has the right to choose. Why even market it only to have it refused? Too many political aspects come into play here. A woman reserves the right to choose.

this step would go a long way to eliminate the current division in our country over abortion. women need this.

I had not signed this in the past because I don't believe in abortion, for MYSELF that is, everyone has their own opinions and should have their own choice. But just a few days ago I was given a healthy dose of reality. My partner and I had a little slip up and I found myself in need of the "morning after pill". I went to the pharmacy and was shocked that in my home state of California I could have just picked it up, but not here in Nevada. I then call my doctor's office to request the prescription. They waited until after the end of the business day and then let me know that no one in the practice felt "comfortable" prescribing me this. I was flabbergasted! How they can just decide they won't let you have it! Luckily good old Planned Parenthood was there to help me out! I don't agree with abortion myself, for MYSELF, but this is ridiculous, it's just a sperm hours after sex! I am not ready for another child and would not be able to take proper care of it at this time, so who do they think they are to leave me in such a position? "IF YOU CAN'T TRUST ME WITH A CHOICE, HOW CAN YOU TRUST ME WITH A CHILD?"
