Prevent Wolverines from Disappearing Forever

The Bush/Cheney administration has spurned the wolverine again, defying scientific evidence and refusing to list this rare creature under the Endangered Species Act.
New scientific evidence reported by Defenders of Wildlife documents the wolverine's uncertain future, raising concerns about the effects of global warming and continued trapping of this elusive carnivore.
But despite the growing threats to wolverines, the federal government has yet to act. And according to documents obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, the Bush/Cheney Administration even ignored the findings of its own on-the-ground scientists in order to block action to protect wolverines.
We need to let the Bush/Cheney administration know that we strongly believe wolverines and their habitat need federal protection, before it's too late.

Every acre of destroyed and despoiled wilderness, every animal who sees their habitat diminish and vanish, diminishes and destroys our natural spirits until one day we will have lost a part of ourselves forever with no way to get it back. It's not too farfetched to say something like "they came for the wolverines and I did not speak, for I was not a wolverine...and when they came for me, there was no one left to speak for me." Most people have no idea the destruction this administration has engaged in or permitted to occur in the natural world. Spread the word, and continue to resist by any means necessary.

With such uncertainty in the world today, I feel that the government should take all steps neccessary to protect all of the countries natural resources, of which wildlfe is a part of. All animals, fish, insects, etc. are intregal parts of the food chain, which trickles up to us, the human who can protect these resources. We are God's caretakers of the earth, and the beings that inhabit it, especially the ones who have no voice. Please pass legislation to protect the Wolverines from extinction, and allocate money to help with breeding plans to boost their numbers in the wild. What is WRONG with the the powers that be in regard to the Wolverine? This animal deserves to be protected as well as any other predator and to say they don't. For centuries the U.S. Government has at best turned a blind eye to habitat destruction when ever a dollar could be made. At worst they have actively promoted that destruction ( i.e. logging , mining in national forests and B.L.M. lands. The time for change has long past. The continued destruction of habitat can have only one outcome. Mass extinctions, why would we assume that Man is imune to exstinction as our ecosystem crumbles around us?

It is quite obvious to me that the current administration cares nothing for people, let alone animals. It has not taken care of its' own citizens, so how can we expect it to care for its' own animals? Asking them to do something for either one is like pounding your thumb with a mallet over and over again. Ouch..
