Americans are feeling the pain as the cost of living rises. The cost of a barrel of crude oil has doubled in a year, reaching a new record, and higher oil and energy prices affect the entire chain of food production. In 2008, U.S. food prices are expected to rise 4 to 5 percent. That's nearly doubling the already steep increases of the last three years.
The food crisis hits harder in developing countries, where many people already spend up to 80 percent of their income to buy food. Before this crisis, 854 million people worldwide were hungry. As many as 100 million people could fall further into poverty because of soaring prices.
We cannot wait until the next appropriations cycle comes in October. People are hungry now. Urge Congress to release funding immediately for emergency disaster assistance so that we can move quickly to get food to those in need.
We took action on “Congress: Address Rising Food Prices Now!”!

It just does not seem right, that in this day and age, with as much as we have and as much as we can do, we waste billions of dollars on unwinnable or unnecessary wars instead of caring about people and helping others who need our assistance. We need to deliver more than words or wars - millions of people should not die of starvation while we have the ability to help them.

We need to stop raising the cost of food. There are people that I never thought would be going to food pantries and that is in the USA. We need to help the hungry in the global food crisis. This is an outrage and we need to release funds for the growing global crisis!

This has to stop. Its bad enough people cant afford gas & oil, now we can't even afford a loaf of bread let alone a gallon of milk.
People are struggling to make ends meet to feed their own families & not just the poor but the middle class as well.

It's disgusting that so much wealth is out there and yet people can not afford to buy food. Everything is out of balance, and we will ALL pay the price unless we wake up and do the right thing for all people and all creatures on this planet!
