Join Deepak Chopra: Tell Presidential Candidates to Propose Real Global Warming Solutions!

It's about time American politicians stop paying lip service to global warming and start proposing real solutions!

Our 2008 presidential candidates will have to deal with the greatest environmental problem we have ever faced. As citizens of a country that is one of the world's biggest polluters, we must make sure that they don't just talk about it, but actually have a detailed plan for combating it.

An aggressive plan to combat global warming must include:
  • Imposing a cap on CO2 emissions across the country and sticking to it, without special rules for rich companies.
  • Increasing fuel efficiency standards dramatically for commuter vehicles as well as commercial trucks.
  • Cleaning up our current electric and other power plants.
  • Investing in alternative, cleaner energies such as wind power, and providing incentives for companies who develop and use these technologies.
Please join Deepak Chopra today in telling the 2008 presidential candidates to make solutions to global warming a top priority.

Dear presidential candidate,

I stand with Deepak Chopra in urging you to make global warming a priority for your campaign.

I want to know that you have a detailed and aggressive plan to combat global warming, and will follow through with this plan.

This plan must include, among other things:

  • Imposing a cap on CO2 emissions across the country and sticking to it, without special rules for rich companies.

  • Increasing fuel efficiency standards dramatically for commuter vehicles as well as commercial trucks.

  • Cleaning up our current electric and other power plants.

  • Investing in alternative, cleaner energies such as wind power, and providing incentives for companies who develop and use these technologies.
As citizens of a country that is one of the world's biggest polluters, we must step up now. If we don't, the consequences will be devastating.

Sincerely,

Honesty is the key. There are many factors. First is the prevention of the destruction of forests. Second the careful planning of bio fuel resources, no leveling forests in the process. Third any factory or industry is to be converted to the new rule of reduction of carbon emissions.

Listen to what the environmental scientists say. Look at what's happening in the whole world, in Myanmar, the tsunamis, the Gulf Coast Katrina hurricanes, the melting of the polar glaciers. We need to take action to save the planet.

Global warming must be a primary concern immediately, we are loosing important elements of our world daily. My vote goes with the candidate with a emphasis on environmental concerns and with actions to match the rhetoric!

I need tohear your commitment to helping halt and reverse the destructive progress ofGlobal Climate change. I need to know that corporations will be held responsible for their carbon footprints. What is your plan to clean up our coal fired electrical plants? What incentives will you offer to push the American public to embrace the changes that we need to accomplish our goals to reverse global warming. I want to know that you will be a leader who will inspire the citizens of this great nation to take the right steps to protect our environment and the many creatures that make their homes here.

Dear Candidate: Please support programs to reduce global warming. We can still do something now but it may reach a tipping point when we can't go back. I would hate to see the world, as we know it, to end because of our blindness and in some cases greed. I have a family and want them to have a life. Thanks. I urge you to support and advocate for the development of and investment in sustainable, alternative energy sources. Citizens/consumers in this country are making a shift in their purchases of products and services to those that support their growing awareness and concern about the ecological and environmental impact of those products and services. In addition, we want to elect leaders who will represent our priorities.

I would like tons of educational forums to be available for everyone-young and old- which teach us about the earth we live on, and how we should value and love it. So I wish they would have classes being taught in all schools concerning how to 'be green' and how being kind and caring to our environment (trees, the land, the water, the air, flowers, etc), the animals and each other will actually bring happiness and a sense of security and peace to all of us. It's a WIN-WIN situation no matter you look at it!! Thank you:)

Make some real committments that will actually make things better not just lip service and sign a pledge that says if you win you promise to do: whatever, and stick to your promise if you win.

I would like to hear that your country has put a limit on the amount of wood it imports from the Amazon. A reduction in the loss of this magnificent lung of our world will assist the atmosphere enormously.

We waste so many billions on building weapons and waging war in part because our society fears that there are always some bad guys that must be defeated. When will we start fearing the greatest and most real threat we have, which is global warming and other forms of environmental destruction? Our politicians need to stop creating unreal and dangerous fears and start telling the people what they really need to be concerned about!
