The men and women who fight for our freedom and safety should NOT have to fight to get the healthcare they deserve.
More than 20,000 brave soldiers have been injured while serving in the current "war on terror." Despite these sacrifices, Congress recently tried to slash the budget for the VA's traumatic brain injury care and research centers that so many of our wounded troops are depending on. Congress needs to know that anything short of fully funded healthcare and benefits for our veterans is unacceptable.
Our veterans have earned the right to high quality healthcare. Sign the Healthcare for Our Heroes Petition to demand that Congress hold up its end of the bargain and provide full funding for veterans' healthcare and benefits.
We signed the “Demand Healthcare for Our Heroes” petition!

Thses men and women deserve to be taken care of with health insurance, After all they are the ones putting their lives on the line for you and me.
I feel the veterans get the shaft and I think they deseve to be treated fair for what they have done for this country.

Is it the American way to send people to war and then not take care of them and theirs?

My mother has worked at the VA Medical Center in Leeds, MA for over 20 years now, and I have volunteered there also. In those 20 years, I have personally witnessed essential programs being cut left and right due to lack of funding. Right now, if a veteran from this area needs ongoing rehabilitation and medical care, they are sent to White River Junction, VT, over 100 miles away from their families. This puts a tremendous strain on not only the families but the veterans themselves because they can't have their support system close to them! Please support more funding!

My father was in two wars and died waiting for approval for 100% disability because he was bedridden with lung cancer and going into a coma. All he wanted was for my mom and I to not have to worry about his final expenses when he passed away. Australia has full healthcare at no cost to veterans in place, and has for years. We're the richest country in the world and we can't do that?

During the Vietnam Era, I was promised Health Benefits for life. Now, I have to apply every year for eligibility based upon my income. My dad was a war era veteran and he had benefits all of his life. He fought for his country and for a better life for his children. My dad wanted more for me than he had. Apparently, the government has other ideas. Our government needs to keep it's promises to it's veterans both past and present.

Our veterans deserve the best healthcare possible and this cannot always be achieved at a VA clinic. Many of our veterans suffer from PTSD and need to see a counselor on a regular basis but they are so booked that the veterans must wait for months. This is unacceptable. How do we expect them to get any better? They should be able to receive healthcare at any healthcare facility in the US without having to worry about the cost and their medication(s) should be taken care of, too.

my father and my grandfather fought in wars. if it were not for our soldiers who fight for our freedom we would not have any. sept 11th when they terrorized the usa, i believe that if bush had not sent our soldiers over there they would have brought more to us and those that knock mr bush would have been the very same people to call him a coward for not protecting our nation.
when i see any of our soldiers in stores or restaraunts i always go over to them and let them know they are in our prayers and i appreciate all they are doing. i truly am sorry they are over there and wish that there could be peace....each one of the soldiers that i have spoke to, has let me know that they to wish that there could be peace, but they are proud to protect their country.they above all should be entitled to benefits and be taken care after they come home. Especially those that are injured and need it the most. to many times someone falls through the cracks.
