Iceland's whaling industry is pushing for permits to kill 100 minke whales as well as some fin whales, which are an endangered species.
Iceland's Minister of Fisheries will make a final decision soon and whaling could begin in May. Please sign our petition today and urge Iceland to stop whaling forever!
We signed the “Iceland Could Resume Whaling - Please Act” petition!

Whales are truly the greatest of the world's gentle giants. Violence towards any animal makes me sick, sad, and angry but none seem to affect me so greatly as the whale. These are magnificant animals and deserve to be protected as fiercely as we are able. Don't let this happen. Help them, please!!

I realize it may seem hypocritical for a U.S. citizen to ask Iceland to stop hunting whales when we have so ravaged our environment and wasted so many resources here. But I think we need to start healing the earth, no matter where we live. I don't see how killing whales leaves a btter planet to all our children. Thank you for listening.

I am shocked and horrified that you are considering permits for the cruel and unnecessary act of whaling. I have always had a lot of respect for your country. I hope you will follow the lead of concerned citizens around the world and deny all whaling permits.

I am surprised and disappointed that Iceland, that is such a leader in energy conservation and species protection would consider restarting its whaling efforts. Please rescind this decision.

what makes you thimk you are exempt from protecting these glorious creatures? endangered and you are still considering this????? this is beyond belief. i cannot believe there is still a large enough demand for whale meat that you would kill off an endangered species, or for that matter a future endangered one.

Cousteau once said that everything that could be gotten from a whale could be obtained another way. Killing whales is unnecessary. Please don't do it.

When are people going to wake up and start to understand science and how it screws up our ecological cycle to kill without necessity. I guess mankind will finally figure it out after it's too late.

Stopping whaling earned iceland my respect. It was a humane and intelligent thing for a civilized country to do. If you are to re-start now you are undoing 6 months of good work. Please think of all the suffering you will cause in your whale populations. The level of endangerment for all species of whale is readily increasing year after year, I urge you to not cause extinction of these beautiful creatures
