Give Us a Plan for a Financially-Secure America!

Target: 2008 Presidential Candidates
Sponsored by: Divided We Fail
It used to be that if you worked hard, raised your family and played by the rules, you'd be OK. But that's no longer true. Today, the burden of saving for retirement, paying for health care and supporting aging parents falls much more heavily on individuals.

For many people, the American dream is eroding. The presidential candidates have said too little about the long-term financial security crisis Americans face every day. Over the next couple weeks, the presidential candidates will do their best to reach voters in the final key primaries. Now, during this critical period for both sides, it is time to demand that leaders develop a real plan of action.

Dear [Presidential Candidate],

I believe that Americans who work hard and play by the rules deserve to be able to retire without worrying about their financial situation. Sadly, this cornerstone of the American dream is crumbling.

Millions of Americans are barely scraping by in today's economy. Saving for the future is near impossible. And traditional sources of retirement income, like pension plans, are disappearing.

It's not a partisan issue - it's an American issue. Every presidential candidate should be talking about it, and laying out clear, concrete and detailed plans for how to solve the crisis facing all of us.

A plan for long-term security is critical in order to avoid future scandals like the home loan crisis we are fighting right now.

It seems as though we have gone years and years without a true plan... this country is in dire straights... we need a well though out plan for so many issues... PLEASE, be ready on DAY one, if you are elected, as the issues that need your attention, are ones that need action taken fast.

It matters not just to Americans. Commerce in our country has been cut significantly since the sub-prime crisis. I'd say it matters to all of Europe too.

It is our way of life at this point in time. Though a creation of regulation and sort of a game we are at mercy to it. The government seems different.
