Give Us a Plan for a Financially-Secure America!

Target: 2008 Presidential Candidates
Sponsored by: Divided We Fail

It used to be that if you worked hard, raised your family and played by the rules, you'd be OK. But that's no longer true. Today, the burden of saving for retirement, paying for health care and supporting aging parents falls much more heavily on individuals.

For many people, the American dream is eroding. The presidential candidates have said too little about the long-term financial security crisis Americans face every day. Over the next couple weeks, the presidential candidates will do their best to reach voters in the final key primaries. Now, during this critical period for both sides, it is time to demand that leaders develop a real plan of action.

Dear [Presidential Candidate],

I believe that Americans who work hard and play by the rules deserve to be able to retire without worrying about their financial situation. Sadly, this cornerstone of the American dream is crumbling.

Millions of Americans are barely scraping by in today's economy. Saving for the future is near impossible. And traditional sources of retirement income, like pension plans, are disappearing.

[Your comment here]

It's not a partisan issue - it's an American issue. Every presidential candidate should be talking about it, and laying out clear, concrete and detailed plans for how to solve the crisis facing all of us.

You all have a secure retirement plan because us, the tax payers, pay for it. Now, You, need to step up to the plate and tell us how you plan on protecting our retirement. Tit for tat, right. We make your retirement possible so you need to tell how us you plan on protecting ours.

We are quickly becoming the newest 3rd world country. Poor or no paying jobs (they're all over seas) No unions to help with job security & healthcare. Prices skyrocketing and salaries stagnant. Water & air pollution ignored. We have gone back over 100 years in our quality of life for the working class.

Millions of Americans are barely getting by in today's economy. Saving for the future is nearly impossible and it is predicted that there is a good chance that social security will run out! Then the gap between rich and poor is ever widening!! How can anyone not see that you have to take away tax incentives for the rich, you have to take money from the top and give it for all the poor in this country. First we have to make sure no one starves, then provide universal health care - 100% of everyone covered, then greatly lower the pay across the board for all sports players. If we do all that and more we will see all feel better about taking care of our neighbors and actually can believe we have decent morals. It is possible that a world like that can be true for us if we live as fellow travellers in the journey of life; if we use our hearts to care.

I am ashamed to be an american--this country does not care about the true american way and what we need to do to keep it safe for our families, jobs and downright really giving a damn about our way of life--it's digusting as usual the rich keep getting richer and the poor or middle class keep getting the back end of the horse!

I live and vote in Florida. I want my vote to count. If some weirdo like Dean thinks he can disallow all of Florida's votes, then he is a stupid as he acts. We have 50 states - we need to count ALL VOTES. SO WHAT, we had the voting a little early. Many have the voting late, and they are not punished. STOP this silliness and count Florida and Michigan's votes.

The candidates have managed to totally ignore any relevant issues. The usualy mud slinging. We need to know specifically what you plan to do regarding the ongoing governmental rape of our Social Security System, health care for everyone, especially seniors. Start talking candidates. So far I'm not impressed with anyone.

Each person in the US technically owes close to $30000.00 due to the national debt. We need to reign in on spending and help people make sure they have a future when they are retired and won't be destitute if an emergency happens that costs their entire savings.
