Give Us a Plan for a Financially-Secure America!

Target: 2008 Presidential Candidates
Sponsored by: Divided We Fail
It used to be that if you worked hard, raised your family and played by the rules, you'd be OK. But that's no longer true. Today, the burden of saving for retirement, paying for health care and supporting aging parents falls much more heavily on individuals.

For many people, the American dream is eroding. The presidential candidates have said too little about the long-term financial security crisis Americans face every day. Over the next couple weeks, the presidential candidates will do their best to reach voters in the final key primaries. Now, during this critical period for both sides, it is time to demand that leaders develop a real plan of action.

Your note to the presidential candidates on why a plan for America's long-term financial security is critical:

Dear [Presidential Candidate],

I believe that Americans who work hard and play by the rules deserve to be able to retire without worrying about their financial situation. Sadly, this cornerstone of the American dream is crumbling.

Millions of Americans are barely scraping by in today's economy. Saving for the future is near impossible. And traditional sources of retirement income, like pension plans, are disappearing.

It's not a partisan issue - it's an American issue. Every presidential candidate should be talking about it, and laying out clear, concrete and detailed plans for how to solve the crisis facing all of us.

Its seems that we need a plan so the rich don't keep getting richer and the poor don't stay poor. Why can't we all work towards bettering our lives for everyone. I heard a quote in a movie and I only wish it were possible. The quote is that money is no longer the driving force in our lives, We work to better ourselves for the common good so we have no longer have use of money.

Huge numbers of our fellow Americans are facing or have already faced disaster regarding home foreclosures. Many Americans have lost their retirement to unscrupulous corporations who stole their pensions (my husband is one of those people). America has sure slipped to an all-time low as far as business morals are concerned. We need an honest man in office who cares about the little guys, the working people in America instead of how to line their pockets and pander to big lobbys. We need a man of the people with high morals and great compassion. Are you that man, willing to stand up to big business for the sake of the working people?
