Protect Wildlife in Bristol Bay from Oil Drilling
Target: President BushSponsored by: Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund
The Bristol Bay is home to endangered Northern Pacific right whales and Steller sea lions. It is also one of the worldÂ’s most productive fishing grounds, with and important snow crab fishery and the planetÂ’s largest sockeye salmon run.
But President Bush has a different vision for this precious piece of the Pacific: he wants to turn it over to profit-rich Big Oil, lifting a moratorium that has been in place since the disastrous Exxon Valdez spill.
Now is not the time to open more wild lands to oil drilling. ItÂ’s the time to protect the wildlife and fishing interests in this fragile region and invest in alternative energy sources that are well within our reach. Sign this petition to help prevent another Big Oil spill in AlaskaÂ’s still recovering Bristol Bay.

If drilling is allowed in this area, it will put people who eat wild salmon at risk, as well as the sealions and other acquatic mammals and waterfowl. Please use your power and taxpayers money to seek out a more sustainable alternative fuel source. Drilling in Bristol Bay could have major consequences.
