Oppose New Nuclear Weapons Today

The Bush administration has asked for $8.5 million in the 2006 budget for research on a "Robust Nuclear Earth Penetrator" (RNEP). This new nuclear weapon, also known as the nuclear "bunker buster," is being promoted as a useful tool in attacking deeply buried command centers or underground stores of chemical and biological weapons. But numerous scientific critiques, including one by the National Academy of Science, find that in many cases such a weapon would be ineffective. In addition, the nuclear blast and radioactive fall-out could kill millions of innocent people in surrounding areas. A single "bunker buster" would be nearly 100 times more powerful than the nuclear bomb that destroyed Hiroshima.
In the coming weeks, the Senate will consider funding for this new nuclear weapon. Please tell your Senators to reject all funding for the dangerous nuclear "bunker buster."

I don't understand one thing, if we continue to attack, without reason or cause, countries that are only THOUGHT to have the ABILITY to make nuclear weapons, then when will the rest of the world attack us because we HAVE nuclear weapons and everyone knows about it. We have NO right whatsoever to attack another country because they are trying to protect themselves from the likes of us over egotistical Americans. As an American I personally DON'T feel safer because we have nukes, I feel MORE scared than ever, because it only gives the rest of the entire world, permission to attack and DESTROY America, to protect themselves from us! This is NOT a safe country, we are no more liberators then Nazi Germany or Stalin's Italy or the Communist Russia! We attack and invade countries at our random selection, without any prior attack on another country or us first, because we "pretend" to be afraid that they "COULD" hurt someone else down the road. We are hurting these people NOW, so any other country then under the current Geneva Accords COULD and CAN FREELY attack us without warrent, because we have been PROVOKING other countries! This is NOT right and it's time to stop.

This is an outrage! Hasn't the president read Dr. Seuss' book "The Butter Battle"? Every country on earth should be ridding themselves of nuclear weapons, not creating bigger and more devestating ones. This Administration didn't bother to ask if the citizens wanted to end participation in the nuclear non-proliferation treaties--I cast a vote to rejoin and reactivate and expand those treaties. That also means no new war toys!
