Stop Senate Republicans From Stalling Efforts to Prevent Foreclosures

Target: U.S. Senate Republicans
Sponsored by: Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee
Millions of Americans are losing their homes in the worst foreclosure crisis in recent memory, and the Bush Republicans in Washington are content to sit on their hands.

That's not good enough for the American people, so Democrats are doing everything we can to rush federal assistance to people devastated by the mortgage crisis.  But again, George Bush threatened to veto House legislation to provide immediate assistance to those in need.

You can help us show our opponents that the American people are serious about solving these problems.  Please sign our petition and join our efforts today.

Our economy is on the very brink of recession and foreclosure rates have nearly doubled in the last year. Over 2 million Americans are at risk of losing their homes and losing their grip on the American Dream. Yet Senate Republicans are doing nothing to address the foreclosure crisis.

These foreclosures hurt us all. They damage an already teetering economy in a downward spiral of falling home values and decreased tax bases, and they put our friends and neighbors out of their homes.

We can't afford to sit around and wait for these issues to sort themselves out. We, the undersigned, urge Senate Republicans to stop delaying the Democrats' efforts to prevent foreclosures.
We signed the “Stop Senate Republicans From Stalling Efforts to Prevent Foreclosures” petition!

You are often more willing to help big business when they need to be bailed out; why not the homeowners who need some support. The banks and the mortgage brokers need to be held accountable. Homeowners are also responble but now they need help.

Our country, to me, is acting like a communistic state for a long time. Of course, the big shots in DC don't see it that way. But if ther were in OUR shoes perhaps they would take off the blinders and do a little research.

The lenders are the ones that should be taking care of the mess they created. They should work with the borrowers in trouble so they can keep their homes and avoid foreclosure. The lenders should basically refinance with no or very little closing costs and extend the term if needed. The rate could be even tied to the economic wellbeing of the middle and lower class. A rate cap or yearly increase no higher than a predetermined amount. Foreclosed homes are just going to be bought up by the wealthy to rent or hold on for long term investments. Once again, the low and middle class are being used so the rich get even richer!! Why would lender not work things out to avoid foreclosure!!??

You need to take care of our own people here in the U.S. If you can spend 12 billion a month in Iraq, you can certainly take care of business right here at home.

STOP!!!! helping financial institutions & corporations and adding, abetting, and condoning their underhanded practices/scams. Legislate for the PEOPLE, i.e., cap & freeze at reasonable interest rates, late fees, overlimit fees, etc. Follow your oath as you would any verbal contract for the people. Make corporations conserve for a change.
