Stop Senate Republicans From Stalling Efforts to Prevent Foreclosures

Target: U.S. Senate Republicans
Sponsored by: Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee
Millions of Americans are losing their homes in the worst foreclosure crisis in recent memory, and the Bush Republicans in Washington are content to sit on their hands.

That's not good enough for the American people, so Democrats are doing everything we can to rush federal assistance to people devastated by the mortgage crisis.  But again, George Bush threatened to veto House legislation to provide immediate assistance to those in need.

You can help us show our opponents that the American people are serious about solving these problems.  Please sign our petition and join our efforts today.

Our economy is on the very brink of recession and foreclosure rates have nearly doubled in the last year. Over 2 million Americans are at risk of losing their homes and losing their grip on the American Dream. Yet Senate Republicans are doing nothing to address the foreclosure crisis.

These foreclosures hurt us all. They damage an already teetering economy in a downward spiral of falling home values and decreased tax bases, and they put our friends and neighbors out of their homes.

We can't afford to sit around and wait for these issues to sort themselves out. We, the undersigned, urge Senate Republicans to stop delaying the Democrats' efforts to prevent foreclosures.
We signed the “Stop Senate Republicans From Stalling Efforts to Prevent Foreclosures” petition!

I would very much like to see ONE honest effort in 8 years by the Washington Republicans to help those of us in dire financial straits due to our failing economy. Houses are bought and sold by opportunistic investors. HOMES, however, are where hard-working people raise children, create memories and find refuge in the love of their families. I, for one, can suffer the gouging at the gas pump, astronomical property taxes, and ridiculously high grocery bills, but fail to understand why those who have the power to help americans save their homes are not making EVERY effort to do so.

Once and for all, start co-operating with the other side of the aisle for the sake of the Union. Those that are not making millions of dollars, and have expenses paid, are drowning.Show some guts instead hiding behind Rush Limbaugh et al. While you can sleep at night many decent Americans have no place to sleep, especially the children.

I wish the republican's would just go away. It seems like the democrats are the only ones trying to stop the madness that the mortgage companies have done in all these foreclosures. Someone needs to step up and force the stop of the thousands of foreclosures a day! Someone needs to force the mortgage companies to do a principal reduction to make those home owners whose homes are worth hundreds of thousands of dollars less than they owe a break. They must lower principal so that the majority or people will be able to afford to just get bye and live in their homes. We've all fought our lives to own our homes, now we're fighting all over again just to keep our homes. The mortgage companies need to be taught a lesson not to be greedy! By helping their customers stay in their homes and not foreclose they are saving hundreds of thousands on each property. Principal REDUCTION IS THE ONLY WAY LEFT.

If you are,it's time you got off your partisan butts and did something for Americans instead of your corporate sponsors.
