Stop Senate Republicans From Stalling Efforts to Prevent Foreclosures

Target: U.S. Senate Republicans
Sponsored by: Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee
Millions of Americans are losing their homes in the worst foreclosure crisis in recent memory, and the Bush Republicans in Washington are content to sit on their hands.

That's not good enough for the American people, so Democrats are doing everything we can to rush federal assistance to people devastated by the mortgage crisis.  But again, George Bush threatened to veto House legislation to provide immediate assistance to those in need.

You can help us show our opponents that the American people are serious about solving these problems.  Please sign our petition and join our efforts today.

Our economy is on the very brink of recession and foreclosure rates have nearly doubled in the last year. Over 2 million Americans are at risk of losing their homes and losing their grip on the American Dream. Yet Senate Republicans are doing nothing to address the foreclosure crisis.

These foreclosures hurt us all. They damage an already teetering economy in a downward spiral of falling home values and decreased tax bases, and they put our friends and neighbors out of their homes.

We can't afford to sit around and wait for these issues to sort themselves out. We, the undersigned, urge Senate Republicans to stop delaying the Democrats' efforts to prevent foreclosures.
We signed the “Stop Senate Republicans From Stalling Efforts to Prevent Foreclosures” petition!

Everyone I know is in trouble because of this mess. Wages have been held down so long no one can afford anything anymore. You are going to see a LOT more foreclosures and bankruptcies as credit lines run dry and taxes go up and wages don't. Most people are teetering on the edge or being dragged over it now. You thought 2007 foreclosures were bad? Wait until you reap the results of 2008.

If you can bail out major corporations, you can help millions of Americans who share a common problem.

If there are any billions left over after assisting Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac, perhaps the republicans would like to help those who didn't contribute large sums of money to establish a republican majority where the wealthy help the wealthy.

This is NOT a partisan issue, but an issue to save this country. Unless some common sense is used we will become a 3rd world nation. Our poverty level is already higher than any other western nation. We have already sunk that far.

The predatory lending practices got us into this and the bankers and loan companies should be the ones to pay for the problem. They got greedy and now they should have to repay the results of the scams they pulled.

In my small community there are a number of homes for sale but the more distressing number are the ones up for auction. Where are these people now? What will they do? And it leaves neighbors in a vulnerable situation because their properties may decline in value. HOW ABOUT SOME ACTION TO HELP THOSE SUFFERING FROM FORECLOSURES AND I DON'T MEAN THE BANKS/LENDERS!!!!!

Here is another example of money and greed taking precedence over humanity. I'm tired of having to write to congress to ask for the obvious and right thing to do. Please get a clue!

We don't need the money going to the big builders (one of the head men in Florida got $1.4 million while those in his development are losing their homes!!), we need it to go to the guy losing his home - help them!
