Stop Senate Republicans From Stalling Efforts to Prevent Foreclosures

Target: U.S. Senate Republicans
Sponsored by: Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee
Millions of Americans are losing their homes in the worst foreclosure crisis in recent memory, and the Bush Republicans in Washington are content to sit on their hands.

That's not good enough for the American people, so Democrats are doing everything we can to rush federal assistance to people devastated by the mortgage crisis.  But again, George Bush threatened to veto House legislation to provide immediate assistance to those in need.

You can help us show our opponents that the American people are serious about solving these problems.  Please sign our petition and join our efforts today.

Our economy is on the very brink of recession and foreclosure rates have nearly doubled in the last year. Over 2 million Americans are at risk of losing their homes and losing their grip on the American Dream. Yet Senate Republicans are doing nothing to address the foreclosure crisis.

These foreclosures hurt us all. They damage an already teetering economy in a downward spiral of falling home values and decreased tax bases, and they put our friends and neighbors out of their homes.

We can't afford to sit around and wait for these issues to sort themselves out. We, the undersigned, urge Senate Republicans to stop delaying the Democrats' efforts to prevent foreclosures.
We signed the “Stop Senate Republicans From Stalling Efforts to Prevent Foreclosures” petition!

If the government is willing to bail out the banks, it's only reasonable they bail out the individuals harmed by the banks aggressive lending practices.

This is a disgrace. Predatory lenders should not be allowed to create an economic crisis.

My family came close to foreclosure due to predatory lending of a large loan company. We had done nothng wrong! They had blatantly broken so many laws my attorney is in awe!! This will soon go to court. It's a shame that there was no government agency that would help us. We remain fearful of the power of lending agencies and the lack of protection from our government. Where are we all going to go when the big lenders own most of the real estate. It won't b pretty if it is allowed to happen. Hmmmm...I think I'll put the cardboard box that we will be living in under a nice tree outside of a government agency.
