Stop Senate Republicans From Stalling Efforts to Prevent Foreclosures

Target: U.S. Senate Republicans
Sponsored by: Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee
Millions of Americans are losing their homes in the worst foreclosure crisis in recent memory, and the Bush Republicans in Washington are content to sit on their hands.

That's not good enough for the American people, so Democrats are doing everything we can to rush federal assistance to people devastated by the mortgage crisis.  But again, George Bush threatened to veto House legislation to provide immediate assistance to those in need.

You can help us show our opponents that the American people are serious about solving these problems.  Please sign our petition and join our efforts today.

Our economy is on the very brink of recession and foreclosure rates have nearly doubled in the last year. Over 2 million Americans are at risk of losing their homes and losing their grip on the American Dream. Yet Senate Republicans are doing nothing to address the foreclosure crisis.

These foreclosures hurt us all. They damage an already teetering economy in a downward spiral of falling home values and decreased tax bases, and they put our friends and neighbors out of their homes.

We can't afford to sit around and wait for these issues to sort themselves out. We, the undersigned, urge Senate Republicans to stop delaying the Democrats' efforts to prevent foreclosures.
We signed the “Stop Senate Republicans From Stalling Efforts to Prevent Foreclosures” petition!

What happened to protecting the American people? The government should have been right on top of this.

It is a shame that this supposed democracy would be based on bailing out business and letting the very base of this country's economy, working people, be thrown under the bus. And shame on those who do it with a vote.

Our government of corruption can always take the time to bail out a major corporation (Bear Stearns), but has absolutely no concern for American workers and their families. So, people lose their homes. Big deal. As long as corporations "grease" the right palms in Washington, things will never change. The entire senate and house of reprehensibles should be IMPEACHED.

Well, on the upside, I won't have to pay property taxes anymore - and since no one can afford to buy my house, maybe I can just rent it back cheap!

When the Democrats actually put forth a bill that is reasonable and doesn't harm the taxpayers of this country more then I will support this effort. It was the Democrats who started tampering with the housing market and now they wish to blame Republicans. WAKE UP PEOPLE!

It's time to make the rich pay their fair share of taxes. Everyone who makes over 1 million dollars a year should be taxed on every dollar they make. You let large corporations get away with stealing people's homes and you could care less as long as your corporate comrades get their money. Do your job or get out of office. We need people who care in government not people to fill a chair and get paid for it.

Before this problem started the bank officials did studies concerning how many people would lose their homes. This latest money making scheme is worse than the one where farmers were allowed to overextend themselves and the banks foreclosed on farms. They acquired prime land for pennies on the dollar. These people deliberately set on destroying people to make themselves richer. They deserve to go belly up for their part in this scheme- along with whatever politicians who went along with the schemes.
