Millions of Americans are losing their homes in the worst foreclosure crisis in recent memory, and the Bush Republicans in Washington are content to sit on their hands.
That's not good enough for the American people, so Democrats are doing everything we can to rush federal assistance to people devastated by the mortgage crisis. But again, George Bush threatened to veto House legislation to provide immediate assistance to those in need.
You can help us show our opponents that the American people are serious about solving these problems. Please sign our petition and join our efforts today.
We signed the “Stop Senate Republicans From Stalling Efforts to Prevent Foreclosures” petition!

Our economy is on the very brink of recession and foreclosure rates have nearly doubled in the last year. Over 2 million Americans are at risk of losing their homes and losing their grip on the American Dream. Yet Senate Republicans are doing nothing to address the foreclosure crisis.
These foreclosures hurt us all. They damage an already teetering economy in a downward spiral of falling home values and decreased tax bases, and they put our friends and neighbors out of their homes.
We can't afford to sit around and wait for these issues to sort themselves out. We, the undersigned, urge Senate Republicans to stop obstructing the Democrats' efforts to prevent foreclosures.
Democrats have united around a few core principles that should be a part of any plan to address this critical issue:
We would rush emergency federal foreclosure prevention resources to nonprofit housing groups that are on the frontlines, fighting to keep families in their homes.
Our plan would provide even more funding to city and state agencies working to help borrowers save their houses.
Senate Democrats would enact tough new government oversight to end predatory lending.
Finally, our plan would provide new assistance to creditworthy homeowners who need help refinancing now, before they get caught in the mortgage crunch.
These common sense solutions aren't radical, they're just what's necessary.
We won't accept any more obstructionism. Americans are losing their homes and they need help.

I work for an insurance company and have seen the results of the mortgage crisis first-hand: in neighborhoods destabilized by foreclosures and, worse, in homes damaged by vandalism or destroyed by arson. It's true that speculators in the homeowners market helped fuel the crash; but Sen. Frank's bill excludes those owners and restricts help to those who really need and deserve it.

For many members of congress, the primary job is to hold onto their job, no matter what. If the public good happens to fall into that zone, then it's just gratis, otherwise most of you are absolutely worthless and should be removed from office in irons.

Does anyone care anymore? It seems that
everyone is out just for their selves. You have
jobs and money so it doesnt matter to you.
Think outside your own box for once and try to
help those of us that are less fortunate.

It's DISGUSTING to think that too many of our Senators really don't represent US anymore, but only their pocketbooks. Why WOULD the Senate obstruct efforts to prevent foreclosures WHERE IT REALLY MATTERS? What do you stand to gain? Certainly not our votes.

Millions of homes are being lost and equally as many residents are being displaced. Stop the gluttony of banks and other lenders from making these huge triple profits on our homes. We can buy a car for almost what some pay for homes in 3-5 years so why does it take thirty years too pay for ahouse?
