Stop Senate Republicans From Stalling Efforts to Prevent Foreclosures

Target: U.S. Senate Republicans
Sponsored by: Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee
Millions of Americans are losing their homes in the worst foreclosure crisis in recent memory, and the Bush Republicans in Washington are content to sit on their hands.

That's not good enough for the American people, so Democrats are doing everything we can to rush federal assistance to people devastated by the mortgage crisis.  But again, George Bush threatened to veto House legislation to provide immediate assistance to those in need.

You can help us show our opponents that the American people are serious about solving these problems.  Please sign our petition and join our efforts today.

Our economy is on the very brink of recession and foreclosure rates have nearly doubled in the last year. Over 2 million Americans are at risk of losing their homes and losing their grip on the American Dream. Yet Senate Republicans are doing nothing to address the foreclosure crisis.

These foreclosures hurt us all. They damage an already teetering economy in a downward spiral of falling home values and decreased tax bases, and they put our friends and neighbors out of their homes.

We can't afford to sit around and wait for these issues to sort themselves out. We, the undersigned, urge Senate Republicans to stop delaying the Democrats' efforts to prevent foreclosures.
We signed the “Stop Senate Republicans From Stalling Efforts to Prevent Foreclosures” petition!

The Republican party has exercised unprecedented cynicism during the Bush administration's time in office. It's all over for your party now, so why not do something good for the people you were elected to represent.

Foreclosure hurts the people who have nothing most. While mortgage people were going to parties, they were going to work. Help them.

This affects all of us now & in the future. How the Senate handles this crisis will determine how we handle the Senate.

I think something needs to be done here there are so many Americans facing foreclosure here and all I see is advertisment on how some one could benifit by it by buying home cheap. what is the deal here these people are loosing every thing so that a rich man can come in and buy it for a little of nothing and throw a for rent sign on and charge a smaller man outrageous rent why don't you do something to help those in need instead of always helping those who don't need to be helped alot of these people facing foreclosure is due to circumstances beyond they control. as the old saying gos walk a mile in mile shoes and then tell me theres not a problem. its easy to that theres no problem when your not the one being faced with it. how about doing something to help these people instead of just throwing them a side like a piece of trash. the U.S is crumbling and you don't even act like you care. I don't know exactley what has went wrong but some where along the line the goverment stopped caring about its own. stop taking and taking and taking and start giving some thing back for a change. like we get told all the time stand up and take a stand stop worrying so much about where your next vacation is gonna be and start worrying about saving the U.S and its people.

We need to stop bailing out the banks and big business and start helping the people who are loosing their homes ,a goodmajority of which banks and real estate businesses have put them in this spot in the first place. Questiion if you were to loose your home where would you live? Well most people don't have your alternatives.

We jumped through all the hoops and worked hard. We know that our economic stability was manipulated by speculators who made out BIG during the mortgage fiasco of the last few years and we REFUSE to take full blame for how it all turned out. Don't insult our intelligence by suggesting that it was the greedy homeowners who were just trying to put a roof over their families heads and who were bamboozled by mortgage lenders at their banks that they could indeed afford unaffordable mortgage loans. That is equivalant to saying I'm responsible for overdosing if my doctor prescribes the wrong dose of medicine for me to take! We take the advice of those who are in authority to make those decisions and try to understand it all the best we can. Don't imply that every homeowner was well informed!!! IT is an outrage that the market was manipulated by brokers and banks who walked away with huge profits and now the struggling homeowners are being blamed in the media for their supposed ignorance and greed! What are watching your next move and we will NOT forget what you do next! Search your souls and do the right thing for the country and for it's people. History will record how you have responded to this crisis.
