I am aghast and deeply grieved by the unimaginable torture animals routinely endure in slaughterhouses. Meat is cut off of them while they are still alive! Workers break their bones and drag them through doorways if they're too large or in too much pain to walk. This is SICK and INHUMAN. You have an ethical obligation to STOP THIS TORTURE. |

CAFOs are a bleak monstrosity, like something out of a nightmare. Imagine being confined in a small space for your entire short life, the sounds of frightened and injured others issuing from all around. Your eyes sting from the ammonia in the air, the filthy stench of excreta; your side is sore and bleeding from rubbing against the bar on the side of your cage constantly, coated with feces; your legs are ready to give out under you, your body overblown to grotesque size due to hormones that cause you to grow at shocking speeds, thus accelerating your coming to slaughter age, and maximizing your profitability--you are worth no more than your weight in meat. This is the hell of CAFOs. And the animals aren't the only victims... impoverished slaughterhouse workers labor in strenuous and brutal conditions, while surrounding communities of humans as well as the rest of the ecology wither from the devastating pollution. Communities are destroyed as family farms are usurped by these demonic places of horror--which are subsidized and empowered by our government using our tax money. Our society is mad if we allow this to continue! |
