Stop the Political Attack on Choice in Michigan!

Target: Your Representative and Speaker of the House Andy Dillon
Sponsored by: Michigan Coalition for Progress
You can tell it's an election year in Michigan. Michigan's legislature is still wasting time and our taxpayer dollars on anti-women's health bills. Some state legislators are currently pushing through an unnecessary and wasteful bill, which would prohibit a certain type of abortion that was already banned by the ultra-conservative Supreme Court of the United States.

Michigan Senate Bill 776 prohibits a rarely used, yet medically necessary abortion method, but does not provide an exception to protect a woman's health. Furthermore, this medical method is already outlawed in Michigan and across the country.

Tell your representative and Speaker Dillon to work for progress in Michigan instead of continuing the wasteful and divisive antics that now define the Michigan legislature.

Dear [decision maker],

I am writing to express my disapproval of SB 776. This bill is nothing more than political pandering to anti-choice forces in an election year.

SB 776 is an unnecessary, wasteful and politically-motivated bill that seeks to ban an abortion method that is already banned at the federal level.

In addition, this bill prohibits a rarely used, yet medically necessary abortion method and does not provide an exception to protect a woman's health. Furthermore, no matter what Michigan law says, this medical method is already outlawed here and across the country.

Please stop wasting taxpayer time and resources with political votes that hurt women.

Let's move forward instead of backwards. Michigan has so many issues to spend energy on. Let's focus on creating jobs and getting our satte back on its feet.

I think partial birth abortion is horrible.Maybe you women should read up on it before you sign this petition.Notice they don't even describe what procedure they are fighting for. You wouldn't want it if youknew the truth.

There are far more urgent issues to be addressed this election year, such as EDUCATION, HEALTH CARE, and the ENVIRONMENT. Get to work on something urgent!

Conservatives preach smaller goverment, but when it comes to the most personal decisions they want to tell women what to do. But out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The health and safety of the gestating human female overrides fetal morbidity and mortality, as a healthy female can continue to reproduce for the survival of the species.

SB776 is a poor idea--obstetrically and ethically, for the reasons previously stated. It is long past time to get the legilature out of those aspects of health care which should remain the province of the patient and her physician.

I think it's a big step backwards to waste time on this bill. I believe there is another plan brewing and this is a smoke screen. The coutrs have already ruled that it's a women's right to choose. Please end the over powering and opression of women.

We have much larger and more important issues to resolve in Michigan, such as jobs, affordable health care, adequately financed schools, and the lack of medical insurance. Surely you could have found a more substantive issue to spend time, money and effort on.
