Stop the Political Attack on Choice in Michigan!

Target: Your Representative and Speaker of the House Andy Dillon
Sponsored by: Michigan Coalition for Progress
You can tell it's an election year in Michigan. Michigan's legislature is still wasting time and our taxpayer dollars on anti-women's health bills. Some state legislators are currently pushing through an unnecessary and wasteful bill, which would prohibit a certain type of abortion that was already banned by the ultra-conservative Supreme Court of the United States.

Michigan Senate Bill 776 prohibits a rarely used, yet medically necessary abortion method, but does not provide an exception to protect a woman's health. Furthermore, this medical method is already outlawed in Michigan and across the country.

Tell your representative and Speaker Dillon to work for progress in Michigan instead of continuing the wasteful and divisive antics that now define the Michigan legislature.

Dear [decision maker],

I am writing to express my disapproval of SB 776. This bill is nothing more than political pandering to anti-choice forces in an election year.

SB 776 is an unnecessary, wasteful and politically-motivated bill that seeks to ban an abortion method that is already banned at the federal level.

In addition, this bill prohibits a rarely used, yet medically necessary abortion method and does not provide an exception to protect a woman's health. Furthermore, no matter what Michigan law says, this medical method is already outlawed here and across the country.

Please stop wasting taxpayer time and resources with political votes that hurt women.

It is time to work for progress in Michigan instead of continuing the wasteful and divisive antics that now define the Michigan legislature. That you continue to waste tax payer dollars to question whether or not women are capable of making their own reproductive decisions is not only offensive and biased it is also a most definite act of extreme unconsciousness.

Preventing unwanted births is much more humane and cheaper than dealing with the consequences. Population growth is unsustainable and it is destroying the planet. Therefore, it is unacceptable to restrict birth control options.

HELLO!! Has anyone made the connection between EXPLODING POPULATION and the DEGRADATION OF THE ENVIRONMENT, INCLUDING GLOBAL WARMING!!?? In a terrible economy when states and local governments have less money for programs, does anyone realize that UNWANTED CHILDREN BEING BORN are much higher risk to cost the taxpayers money, not only for welfare while they grow up, but higher risk for drugs, crime, ending up in prisons, mental illness, etc?

This bill is absolutely rediculous! After all this time, to still question whether or not women are capable of making their own reproductive decisions is offensive and discriminatory. Please do not make medical practices into politics.

SB 776 is a wasteful way to spend our tax dollars and your time. You were elected to do things that would help this state. Federal law already bans these practices. Can't you people stop using women as a way out of doing the work you should be doing? Next time there is an election involving members of our legislature, I will be staying home.

It is unbelievable how much women's rights have been eroded under the Bush government. I would urge our young people not to be complacent but continue to fight for the rights that we fought so hard for. Get out of the dark ages!!
