Boycott ExxonMobil

Target: ExxonMobil Executives
Sponsored by: Defenders of Wildlife
ExxonMobil is spearheading efforts to open America's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling. It is sabotaging efforts to slow global warming and refusing to put its huge profits to good use developing clean, renewable energy or supporting fuel efficiency. The company is still trying to get out of paying the full amount it owes fishermen and Native Americans hurt by the 1989 Valdez spill, which killed hundreds of thousands of seals, otters, birds, fish and whales -- despite raking in a historic $25 billion profit in 2005.

It's time to hold ExxonMobil responsible for putting corporate profits over protection of wildlife and wildlife habitat. Join Defenders of Wildlife and other leading conservation groups in boycotting ExxonMobil. Sign our petition to let ExxonMobil know that you WILL NOT BUY ExxonMobil gasoline unless -- and until -- ExxonMobil takes meaningful action to curb global warming, to invest in renewable energy, and to pay for the damages done by the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska.

Dear ExxonMobil executives,

I am disturbed and frustrated by ExxonMobil's insistence on putting corporate profits before protection of wildlife and wildlife habitat. Our country remains overly dependent on oil, and the dangers of global warming threaten current and future generations of people and wildlife. This addiction to oil represents a failed energy strategy, one that your company not only supports but has helped to develop.

I am most disturbed by:

*ExxonMobil's active support of drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge;

* ExxonMobil's efforts to block meaningful action to cut global warming pollution and its funding of junk science to hide the real facts about global warming;

* ExxonMobil's conscious decision to forgo investment in clean energy solutions - despite your record profits at a time of rising gasoline prices;

* ExxonMobil's failure to pay all of the punitive damages awarded to fishermen and others injured by the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill.

ExxonMobil represents yesterday's energy policy; I would rather spend my money and time moving forward, not backward. Therefore, I am pledging to boycott ExxonMobil until ExxonMobil takes meaningful action to curb global warming, to invest in renewable energy, and to pay for the damages done by the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska.

Sincerely,

Until the Public re-establishes oversight and control of corporations, we need other kinds of pressure to stop their horrendous crimes against humanity and the environment; boycott is a major method.

You are hurting Native Americans, wildlife, and the Environment -- you are degrading the planet for ALL the people and creatures living on it. You show how much of a conscience you have by refusing to pay for oil spills caused by YOUR preventable actions.

I WILL NOT BUY ExxonMobil gasoline unless -- and until -- ExxonMobil takes meaningful action to curb global warming, to invest in renewable energy, and to pay for the damages done by the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska. I am very frustrated with ExxonMobile and how it is handling serious such environmental concerns.

Exxon's anti-environemental stand has only increased since the Valdez wreck. The company has yet to convert to double-hulled ships. In 1990 we wrote to Exxon announcing our intent to personally boycott their products and sell our company stock. Since then we have supported larger efforts such as this. Exxon, get the wax out of your ears!
