Boycott ExxonMobil

Target: ExxonMobil Executives
Sponsored by: Defenders of Wildlife
ExxonMobil is spearheading efforts to open America's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling. It is sabotaging efforts to slow global warming and refusing to put its huge profits to good use developing clean, renewable energy or supporting fuel efficiency. The company is still trying to get out of paying the full amount it owes fishermen and Native Americans hurt by the 1989 Valdez spill, which killed hundreds of thousands of seals, otters, birds, fish and whales -- despite raking in a historic $25 billion profit in 2005.

It's time to hold ExxonMobil responsible for putting corporate profits over protection of wildlife and wildlife habitat. Join Defenders of Wildlife and other leading conservation groups in boycotting ExxonMobil. Sign our petition to let ExxonMobil know that you WILL NOT BUY ExxonMobil gasoline unless -- and until -- ExxonMobil takes meaningful action to curb global warming, to invest in renewable energy, and to pay for the damages done by the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska.

Dear ExxonMobil executives,

I am disturbed and frustrated by ExxonMobil's insistence on putting corporate profits before protection of wildlife and wildlife habitat. Our country remains overly dependent on oil, and the dangers of global warming threaten current and future generations of people and wildlife. This addiction to oil represents a failed energy strategy, one that your company not only supports but has helped to develop.

I am most disturbed by:

*ExxonMobil's active support of drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge;

* ExxonMobil's efforts to block meaningful action to cut global warming pollution and its funding of junk science to hide the real facts about global warming;

* ExxonMobil's conscious decision to forgo investment in clean energy solutions - despite your record profits at a time of rising gasoline prices;

* ExxonMobil's failure to pay all of the punitive damages awarded to fishermen and others injured by the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill.

ExxonMobil represents yesterday's energy policy; I would rather spend my money and time moving forward, not backward. Therefore, I am pledging to boycott ExxonMobil until ExxonMobil takes meaningful action to curb global warming, to invest in renewable energy, and to pay for the damages done by the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska.

Sincerely,

I haven't knowingly purchased or used any Exxon/Mobil products for over 2 years, since I first became aware of the company's unconscionable and despicable lack of fulfilment of its obligations from Valdez. In no form or manner should this vile excuse for a company be allowed to exploit these territories.

I have not used EXXON/Mobile for years because of it's irresponsible actions. I will continue to boycot this company until it begins to atone for the damages it has done and has a better conservation policy.

I have not bought any Exxon Mobile products for many years. You are responsible for the underground petroleum spill in NYC.- Decades ago your negligence contaminated the ground water beneath Brooklyn and Queens. Exxon Mobil refuses to take full responsiblity and pay the billions for clean up. You are responsible for the ill healh of people and animals in the area. The ground water is now rendered unhealthy and not usable. This may have serious repercussions if the NYC area is, as climatologist predict will happen in the next 5 years, hit with a severe drought. Exxon Mobile makes billions of dollars in profit every year. Consumers are suffering because they can't afford the infalted prices of petroleum products. I will drive miles and pay double it I had to to buy anything other than Exxon Mobile!

The idea is ridiculous. This is exactly what creating a wildlife refuge was to avoid... the use of this land in a way that would destroy the habitat and endanger these animals.
