This Holiday Season - Make Trade Fair for Farmers!
Target:President George W. Bush Sponsored by:Oxfam America
Family farmers around the world are suffering. But we can solve this problem by changing unfair trade policies. Our tax dollars supposedly support family farmers. But, in fact, they're predominantly benefiting a small number of wealthy, industrial-sized farms.
What's more, large government payouts lead to overproduction. Crops are dumped onto the world market and sold for less than the cost of production. That drives prices down, often making it impossible for family farmers in developing countries to make a living and feed their families.
This holiday season, join the tens of thousands of people around the US who are participating in Oxfam's Fast for a World Harvest and take a moment to email President Bush. Call on him to do his part to help end hunger by reforming US farm policy.
We signed the “This Holiday Season - Make Trade Fair for Farmers!” petition!

Pres. Bush, It is of the greatest importance that we prioritize our own countryman in every endeavor, which also means that our farmers deserve to have fair trade. Please make this so.

You are running out the small and family farms with the way the program is now. Some things don't need to be about big business.

People here in America whose families were farmers for generations have now lost their land and their way of life. That is far more than just losing one's job. It is because of the policies of you and other politicians before you. Persons in other countries are trying to rise above poverty, disease, hunger provide food for themselves and for selling, a twofold purpose. It is scandalous to promote factory farming or large farms in the face of this. Shame on you who make the constant comment on your Christianity, religious beliefs and faith. As I have seen thus far, you believe in money, power, and nepotism. Show me and millions of others you can stand behind some of your statements, President Bush. Make trade fair for these farmers and you might contemplate doing that for farmers here in America, although I admit it is a mite too little, too late.
