This Holiday Season - Make Trade Fair for Farmers!
Target:President George W. Bush Sponsored by:Oxfam America
Family farmers around the world are suffering. But we can solve this problem by changing unfair trade policies. Our tax dollars supposedly support family farmers. But, in fact, they're predominantly benefiting a small number of wealthy, industrial-sized farms.
What's more, large government payouts lead to overproduction. Crops are dumped onto the world market and sold for less than the cost of production. That drives prices down, often making it impossible for family farmers in developing countries to make a living and feed their families.
This holiday season, join the tens of thousands of people around the US who are participating in Oxfam's Fast for a World Harvest and take a moment to email President Bush. Call on him to do his part to help end hunger by reforming US farm policy.
We signed the “This Holiday Season - Make Trade Fair for Farmers!” petition!

I've been aware of the subsidies that our government pays to landowners to not plant certain crops. Many of these are paid to people who never farm their land at all and own it meerly for the subsidies and the tax write offs. These should be investigated and halted. Those who need the money to continue actively farming deserve the funding. Please allow our small farmers the ability to continue be productive.

I live in farm country and every year I see more of my friends and neighbors having to make major cut backs, and even sell their land in some cases due to the competiton from the local corporate farms. It's just not right.

An American tradition has been family
farmers that cared for land and produced food that fed America and others. Huge corperations would like to
fill that job now. If they do the land and all will suffer because farming needs to be a personal thing. We all know that, it's just common sense.

Without farmers to feed your piehole, we have nothing. I live among farmers in a rural community and what Bush preaches doesn't filter down here.
