Did you know that a federal law from 2005 inadvertently caused prescription birth control prices to soar? This drastic increase in cost has affected university health centers and family-planning clinics around the country, making prescription contraception unaffordable for many college students and lower income women! College students around the country prompted Congress to introduce a bipartisan solution to restore access to affordable birth control. While the cost of the original legislation adds up every day, this new bill won't cost taxpayers a single penny. The Prevention Through Affordable Access Act was introduced by Representatives from both parties who agree that access to affordable contraception is the most effective way to prevent unintended pregnancy. Urge Your Representative to Cosponsor the Prevention Through Affordable Access Act

It is a sad time when a young married couple - both college graduates - can't afford birth control, and then they get pregnant.

Birth control should really be FREE! Overpopulation of humans is the biggest problem facing the planet -- all other problems are because of that. Save some environment for other animals! Birth control should cost NOTHING for ALL poor people everywhere; and be LOW-COST for everyone not-poor, ENCOURAGING them ALL to USE IT!!! This is a ridiculous thing for Big Pharma to make mega-profits from! Another way that the CAPITALIST SYSTEM is systematically DESTROYING the entire planet; making it unfit for ALL human habitation.

I work but do not have health insurance and I can not afford birth control. My prescription costs $65.00 per month, it used to be $15. For me birth control is an actual prescription, as it is for many women, and should not be marginalized or moralized.

The decision on wether or not to take birth control should not be because of the price!!!

Affordable birth control should not be a concern that unfairly burdens women only.

People shouldnt have to pay about 60dollars a month for birth control its not fair. people like me cant afford it. most people wont be able to afford it. we arent made of money we have other bills and stuff we have to pay.we shouldnt have to pay this much for sumthin some people may need. i use it not to prevent pregnancy but because my periods are so bad i cant take it and birth control makes it better. so lower the costs of it

overpopulation is probably the biggest threat to survival on planet Earth.. to limit birth control is to be part of the problem, not the solution. The low income people are those who can least afford to raise children, placing the burden on tax payers, and ultimately, the Planet

Responsibly preventing unwanted pregnancies should not cost as much as caring for and raising a child over the same period of time. If women could afford more children, they might have them, but for those of us who don't have the option to stay at home we need affordable and reliable birth control. Unwanted children are more likely to suffer abuse, and in low income families are more likely to face hunger and inadequate housing. Anyone who truly cared about children would make sure that women had access to birth control that works, is safe, and is affordable.

acess to proper birth control is essential to fixing so many problems associated with population, poverty and equality. All I can say is it is very disappointing america isn't on the ball yet.

My fiance and I work hard, but with the rising costs of living, birth control is something that is a significant strain on our already stretched budget. At almost $100 for an annual exam, and $45 a month for the medication (and that's at Planned Parenthood where it's less expensive), it's something that is not easy for low income women and families to afford. Please make birth control affordable so that women can get the care that they need, as well as helping to stop the cycle of poverty and overpopulation.
