Target:2008 Presidential Candidates Sponsored by:Pre-K Now
Access to high-quality pre-k shouldn't be about where a child lives or luck or family income. The proven and lasting benefits of quality pre-k should be available to all who want it.
Pre-k can raise academic achievement and graduation rates, reduce grade repetition and special education needs, and teach invaluable social skills and teamwork.
The presidential candidates must show leadership on this issue now by making pre-k a campaign priority. Ask the candidates what they will do to help all children start school ready to succeed.
We signed the “Start Early: Take a Stand on Pre-K” petition!

My daughter is 3 and I am trying very hard to get her in to some sort of Pre-K now. If I have an interest for this, I am sure mothers across the world do. Please be ambassadors to us on this interest and make it possible for us all. Thank You.

I enrolled my daughter in preschool when she was three and the results I saw from that were amazing. Her vocabulary was much better, she was much more confident, and she was a lot more social. Even though I pay for this out of my pocket I firmly believe every child should have this opportunity. Ultimately this will affect all of us. With all the research going on about early education I don't see why more programs are not being implemented. I also believe we should look into making methods such as Montessori and Reggio Emilio public. These are methods that have proven to be very effective for all children. We have to start pushing for this, this is our future!

My children are in pre-K now and I see how much their daily learnings at school impact the great people they are and will continue to become. It breaks my heart to think of kids not having that same chance to build confidence and pride in themselves

Here in Grand Prairie, TX there is a program called Head Start which is for low income families. Our family didn't qualify because for a family of 4 you could make no more than $20K. Who could live off of that? That isn't fair for middle class family like myself. With my child being our 1st born, she didn't interact with kids her age so her speech was limited at the age of 3. With the luck God, I got her in to Arlington ISD Pre-K 3 program. And she has improved dramatically with her speech. I am so proud of her. Even with this school's program we almost didn't qualify because my husband msde to much. I mean how broke do you have to be? My husband makes about $30K/yr but with his company paying part of his medical he makes $40K (even though we don't see any of that since it is the company paying for the medical benefits) but they still count it as income, even though that makes no sense to me at all. Point is even middle class ppl need help. Middle class ppl shouldn't have to lie to get asst from the govt or even their local school systems. Every 3 and 4 yr old child should have the opportunity to Early Childhood Education.

This seems to be a no-brainer if you've actually taken the time to look at how the average American spends their day.
