Don't Allow Global Warming Pollution to Increase for Decades

Target: U.S. Senate
Sponsored by: Environmental Defense Fund
Senator George Voinovich (R-OH) proposed legislation that would postpone meaningful action on global warming pollution for at least twenty years.

The Voinovich bill is dressed up as a way to take action, but in fact is a detailed prescription for doing nothing.

The proposal would take away state authority to control global warming pollution, undermining efforts in dozens of states, including California, Florida and the Northeast members of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, which have set ambitious emissions reduction targets. And this is just the beginning.

We need to do everything we can to defeat Senator Voinovich's sham proposal. Email your Senators today.

Dear Senator,

Senator George Voinovich recently proposed legislation that would allow global warming pollution to increase for decades. Even though the proposal is being pitched as a way to address global warming, its real impact would be to block serious global warming action this year.

I urge you to oppose the Voinovich proposal.

The proposal calls for weak, non-binding emissions reduction benchmarks - current levels in 2020 and 1990 levels in 2030 - while providing taxpayer-funded subsidies for favored technologies.

Senator Voinovich needs to realize that capping coal pollution by inverstin in co2 filters is the key. I encourage him to look an objective view at the uncensored facts reagarding this.

I oppose this bill because he can't reduce greenhouse emissions in the near future, & that's not a good idea, too. But there must be something that can stop it. Tell the senator now that adding more & more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere is bad for the environment, & our future. Let's hope our country can do better in cleaner & renewable energy, & that we need reduce our carbon footprint, & also reduce the amount of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. I appreciate your interest on this. Thank you.

Too little too late. We can't put this off any longer, and we certainly can't prevent individual state efforts - there has to be action on all levels!

Legislation that would permit global warming to continue is the worse kind of government corruption. It favors industry at the cost of American health.

We cannot sit aside and watch our planet be destroyed in the name of helping big business. Instead of falsely appeasing the environmental demands of your constituents, - such as myself - you should provide real solutions. Non-binding benchmarks stand the same chances of a pro-Michigan rally in Columbus.

Global warming has been a concern of the world for a few years, and I think someone should take notice of it. All the industrialization has messed up the order of mother nature, and it's kind of irritating. I don't want to be a robot for the rest of my life. I want to be able to have children, and show them how beautiful the earth is. I don't want to show them a clutter of buildings. I think it's great that there are nationally preserved areas of the united states, but it doesn't help. We need to stop using so much fuel and oil and such. Cars should be used for long trips or going to work if your job is about 30 minutes away. Otherwise, you can just walk around or ride a bike =]

Because there will be no earth if the global warming continues and I do not want to see any more damage done. This legislation is truly wrong and I personally do not want to see it go through. Its plan wrong. We are suppose to be protecting the planet not destroying. Generations of folks would not have anything to look forward to if its passed. This is plan nuts.
