Reject President Bush's Anti-Choice Nominee, Robert Conrad

Do you remember Richard Honaker? He was President Bush's pick for a lifetime appointment to a federal district court who tried to outlaw abortion three times in Wyoming. Now, Bush is at it again! This time, he and his allies in the Senate are pushing for a new anti-choice nominee as judge on the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals: Robert Conrad. Robert Conrad has called Planned Parenthood a "radical, pro-abortion fringe group" that "promotes a radical abortion agenda." What's more, from 1983 to 1986, Conrad served on the board of directors for a so-called "crisis pregnancy center" that provided medically inaccurate information about pregnancy, contraception and abortion. Clearly, he isn't fair-minded – and he doesn't deserves a lifetime appointment as a federal judge! Urge your senators to reject the nomination of Robert Conrad today.

My generation worked hard and long to give women control of their own bodies. Up until 1968, it was illegal to purchase contraceptives in Connecticut. The poor women suffered botched coat hanger abortions or had to carry unwanted children to term. Rich women could go to a doctor who practiced down the street from where I lived and have a "D&C" if they needed/wanted an abortion. We should all be damned if Bush feels that 35 years after Roe v. Wade should have settled the question of whether or not we, as women, have the right to control our own bodies that he, and those people he wants to appoint, can set this country back by generations!!!! I'd like to see where these same people who feel that every sperm is sacred are when there are so many unwanted children who are neglected or abused and whose families need to be supported by taxpayers because they can't afford the children they were required to carry to term.

This anti-choice nominee should not be awarded a judgeship due to his long history of being an anti-choice advocate. It is unethical, unjust, and illegal to not allow pregnant women to make private medical decisions with their doctors. Pregnant women deserve the same rights and treatment that are granted to every other member of our society, including reproductive rights and the right to have possession and control of one's body.
