Say No to President Bush's Extreme Federal Judicial Nominee

Target: U.S. Senate
Sponsored by: NARAL Pro-Choice America
Richard Honaker, a former Wyoming state representative, is President Bush's pick for a lifetime appointment as a federal judge. Honaker is one of Bush's most anti-choice nominees to date. He has spent his career fighting to deny women access to safe, legal reproductive-health services. And now Bush has nominated him for a lifetime appointment as a federal judge.

At this pivotal time in history, it's so important that an open and fair-minded federal judge be appointed - not someone bent on interfering with women's personal choices. Send your message telling the Senate that Bush's anti-choice nominee, Richard Honaker, is too extreme for the federal bench!

Dear Senator [Name],

As a constituent, I am writing to voice my strong opposition to the nomination of Richard Honaker to the U.S. District Court for the District of Wyoming.

Honaker has spent his career fighting to deny women access to safe, legal reproductive-health services. He publicly and actively opposes abortion, saying it is "wrong, and no one should have the right to do what is wrong," and tried three times to ban abortion in Wyoming.

By nominating Richard Honaker to a lifetime judgeship, President Bush has shown yet again that he is totally out of step with the views of mainstream America. Honaker led the push for a ballot measure to ban abortion, which Wyoming voters resoundingly rejected. Now I urge you to do the same with this nomination.
We signed the “Say No to President Bush's Extreme Federal Judicial Nominee” petition!

Until men can have babies they should not be involved with who has or doesn't have them. It is about control of men over women. The responsibility of having a child is so huge it cannot be forced upon someone.

Only judges capable of upholding the law should sit on the Supreme Court. NOT judges with a personal agenda to change a fair law to suit their personal beliefs.

The health of women and children already born needs to be recognised;unwanted babies don't do anyone a service. In my opinion men should not have the right to make decisions about female reproductive health especialy about child bearing. When the folk who are agaist the right of women to chose come forward to say THEY will care for, nuture & support these children will be a day that patriarchy has celebrated its last hurrah.

I feel that a Supreme Court Justice should have the greatest possible respect for all viewpoints while defining their position in federal law. This one sounds like another od Bush'e political hacks, and not worthy of honor.

Anti-choice, anti-tolerance, anti-rights... these are all words that SHOULD NEVER describe a Federal Judicial Nominee or Judge. Please, don't let Bush have his 'right' way yet again - and once more at the cost of Americans and their freedoms... Please, don't consider his extremist nominee.

I am going to ask a simlpe question from my commonsense. Did anti-choice nominee has right to controol Women's choice? Men has no right to make any decision without women's desire. Our body, our choice is the best answer from my point of view.

Sir, I don't believe any person with views as one-sided as the nominee is qualified to serve as an important federal judge. The judicial system is corrupted when appointees have extreme political positions.

As a woman, I strongly oppose the nomination of this man as a federal judge. His fear and hatred of women do not recommend him for this position.
