Say No to President Bush's Extreme Federal Judicial Nominee

Target: U.S. Senate
Sponsored by: NARAL Pro-Choice America
Richard Honaker, a former Wyoming state representative, is President Bush's pick for a lifetime appointment as a federal judge. Honaker is one of Bush's most anti-choice nominees to date. He has spent his career fighting to deny women access to safe, legal reproductive-health services. And now Bush has nominated him for a lifetime appointment as a federal judge.

At this pivotal time in history, it's so important that an open and fair-minded federal judge be appointed - not someone bent on interfering with women's personal choices. Send your message telling the Senate that Bush's anti-choice nominee, Richard Honaker, is too extreme for the federal bench!

Dear Senator [Name],

As a constituent, I am writing to voice my strong opposition to the nomination of Richard Honaker to the U.S. District Court for the District of Wyoming.

Honaker has spent his career fighting to deny women access to safe, legal reproductive-health services. He publicly and actively opposes abortion, saying it is "wrong, and no one should have the right to do what is wrong," and tried three times to ban abortion in Wyoming.

By nominating Richard Honaker to a lifetime judgeship, President Bush has shown yet again that he is totally out of step with the views of mainstream America. Honaker led the push for a ballot measure to ban abortion, which Wyoming voters resoundingly rejected. Now I urge you to do the same with this nomination.
We signed the “Say No to President Bush's Extreme Federal Judicial Nominee” petition!

Richard Honaker should not even be mentioned, let alone considered. We do not need any more men telling women how to handle an unplanned pregnancy. The law is quite clear: It is the woman's RIGHT TO CHOOSE!

There are already too many hard-line, narrow minded right wingers in these lifelong positions which emanates injustice.

The right to choose is a personal one and the choice must be made by the person (or people) involved; it should not be decided by law.

It is a total insult and outrage to all American women to even consider the nomination of Richard Honaker to the federal bench. America, at least not yet, is no backwater thrid world country which requires women to walk 10 paces behind men, have not say in their own life etc. HAVING control over decisions over one's own body is the RIGHT of every women--not the say of a biased MAN!!!! NO-NO-NO to Honaker!!

its the womans right to choose! No man no other person can tell us wemon what is right for our body's. Its up to us to choose. There are many wemon beat and raped each year and forced into pregnancy at young ages. A 12 year old should not be forced to have a baby because some conservative president says so. Its our right to choose NOT his.

It seems almost illegal for a lame duck president to be able to appoint Federal justices in the first place..but especially not this nominee

Don't let this one go through. Honaker is obviously not qualified, any way and he is too biased to sit on a Federal bench.

Women will have abortions whether legal or not. Protect women's lives. Leave the choice to a woman and her doctor. Oppose abortions but do not impose your decision on women.

Protect women from "Backstairs abortions". We should not return to those days. Let the woman and her doctor make the choice for each case. You can oppose abortion but do not rule someone else's body. Thank you
