Say No to Corn-Fed Beef, Save the Planet

Target: You!
Sponsored by: Care2

Nearly 100% of beef sold in grocery stores is from corn-fed cows. But feeding corn to cows is cruel and is detrimental to our health and the environment.

Cows are meant to digest grass, so corn diets lead to extreme digestive discomfort, including bloating to the point of potential suffocation, and weak immune systems. Corn-fed cows live on cramped feedlots, unable to move.

Feeding corn to cows also breeds bacteria that is resistant to antibiotics and digestive acids in humans. Corn production and waste from corn-fed animals are a huge source of greenhouse gas, water and air pollution.

Instead, stores should sell beef from grass-fed cows who roam free their whole lives, eliminating the ethical, health, and environmental problems corn feeding operations incur.

If consumers create a demand for more sustainable grass-fed beef, producers will listen.

I pledge to promote humane, sustainable beef production by:

  • When purchasing beef, choosing grass-fed beef whenever possible*

  • Requesting local grocery stores and restaurants to provide grass-fed beef

  • Educating myself and others about the differences between grass-fed and corn-fed beef

(*If your local grocers and restaurants refuse to purchase grass-fed beef, you can find it online.)

I honestly never realised they were doing this and as it causes pain to the cows I feel it is very wrong to do this as the cows deserve a good life as if there happy then meat eaters are happy would hate to think i was eating beef that had suffered needlessy before hand

I do not eat cows, or chickens or pigs or any of it. Cows are wonderful beautiful creatures that are caring for their guardians. I don't know if they care for their captors when they are forced to stay in a pen and eat corn. I detest this practice and ask that it comes to an end now. Cows, chickens, pigs, turkeys, goats, and sheep all deserve to eat what nature intended and deserve to have good lives. Stop this now.

Corrn fed beef is also bad for the humans who consume it. We lose the micronutrients the cows digest from the grass. corn adds to much fat to the beef to an already fat America!

I buy very little meat, but any animal raised for our food deserves to be treated humanely. In addition, there are many other good uses for corn; so everyone would benefit. (When I do buy meat, I purchase brands that raise the animals in healthy settings; including no hormones or antibiotics and grass-fed beef.)

I don't eat beef at all but if you eat it it should be natural & the cattle treated humanely.

I'm vegetarian but I think that if one absolutely can't live without eating beef then it ought to be raised, fed and killed under natural circumstances, which do not include corn feeding, antibiotics, cramped feedlots and filthy slaughterhouses.

All people in the world have to be responsible for all creatures living on this planet, even you. So why don't you stop fatal behaviour of mankind against nature? Noone has the right to eat corn-feede beef while there are people starving!
