Suspend NFL Quarterback Michael Vick for Dogfighting!

Target: Roger Goodell, NFL Commissioner
Sponsored by: Humane Society of the United States
Last week, a federal grand jury indicted NFL star quarterback Michael Vick and three cohorts on felony dogfighting charges.

The abuses described in the indictment are almost beyond belief, and include a report of Vick being consulted before the execution of the losing dog "by wetting the dog down with water and electrocuting the animal."

The indictment also describes "the execution of approximately eight dogs that did not perform well in "testing" sessions ... by methods including hanging, drowning and slamming at least one dog's body to the ground."

Atlanta Falcons Quarterback Michael Vick should be suspended from the NFL immediately!

The NFL expressed “disappointment” and said, “We believe that all concerned should allow the legal process to determine the facts.” That’s just not good enough. The alleged acts were not petty or harmless; they were nothing short of gruesome and barbaric.

Sign the petition to the NFL today, and tell the league to suspend Michael Vick!
deadline: 7-17-2008

Dear NFL Commissioner Goodell,

Dogfighting is cruel and criminal, and football players must be held accountable like anyone else. Please suspend Vick immediately - anything less would reflect very badly on your judgment, and on the league.

It is vital that the NFL say 'NO!' in an act as large as Skywriting it over every Football Field in America to Michael Vick's obscene, inhumane and grossly illegal multiple crimes against innocent animals by immediately suspending him from the NFL, as well as taking every additional strong action legally available. Thank you for your immediate public action.

The NFL's public image will be seriously damaged if it condones this person's inexcusably vicious activities. If Michael Vick is not suspended, I hope NFL fans across the country will express their outrage in the form of a collective boycott.

This kind of behaviour is unacceptable. If this is the mind set of this person, he should not be allowed to participate in professional sports or even be part of society. He should be imprisoned.

I think abuse to any animal is not tolerated unless they are a threat to society and there is danger the dog will do harm to the person. We have one like that next door and I am afraid that dog will attack me soon.

Whether it be human fighting or animal...this act of violence should not be permitted. Animals are here for us to enjoy not abuse and molest. This kind of act shows the kind of player that should not be on a team as violence and pain mean zilt to this poor example of a human being.

If he is proven guilty, then he should be fired from the team as well as have the book thrown at him legally.

Any human being low enough to inflict pain on animals deserves pain themselves. So. Lets hit him where it hurts.

Michael Vick, in his capacity as a star NFL quarterback is a role-model for millions of youngesters world-wide. If he is convicted of this atrocity, the NFL MUST dis-associate itself immediately from him.

I am extremely disgusted at the cruelty Michael Vick has show by harming and killing another living being. He is not a role model-he is a football player with a very sick personality. Is this the extent of his violence or does it operate in other domaines? We know that children who harm animals at an early age have a very big chance of harming humans and others later in life. Let's look at this suspension as an intervention for our whole country's safety!

not just suspended but kick out for good, fired, disgraced. he should also serve time and get some serious therapy while in prison!!!

It is a disgrace that he hasn't been fired yet. Suspension is too good for him. This sorry excuse for a human being should never play football again- and he should be in jail. It is also well known that people who abuse their animals, abuse their children. He sets a sad example for anyone watching the NFL. Pathetic.

This kind of behaviour in one's private life is unconsciable! Dogs are living beings and have the right to live and be treated without abuse and cruelty. Mr.Vick has my utter disgust and I hope the NFL will take this matter seriously. What kind of person cruelly abuses and tortures 51 dogs? I feel that I will not be able to watch another game until this matter is reviewed by the NFL.

Michael Vick's animal abuse is a disgrace to the NFL and runs counter to all the values of good sportsmanship the NFL supposedly supports and stands for. Unless the NFL wishes to be associated in the public mind with the kind of mindless cruelty involved in dogfighting, Vick should be suspended -- permanently, if necessary -- and the NFL should publicly condemn his behavior.

NFL players are role models for kids and it should be made clear that this sort of subhuman behaviour is absolutely unacceptable.

What a disgraceful thing to do - how could you want this barbarian's name associated with the NFL???? I'm fedup with reading about the appalling behaviour of some so called 'Sportsmen' - what sort of example or role model are you people letting this person appear as under the name of the NFL! Shame on you - you're as bad as he is!

As an NFL player, he sets an example for a lot of young people. He should therefore, be made an example.

Even though I am a great fan of the NFL, and hate to see the league lose some of its great talent, I feel that there is no other choice for the league but to suspend Vick. The indictment charges should be taken seriously, as well as the horrors of dogfighting. The commissioner has made it clear that he will not tolerate players in his league that will not properly represent the NFL. Suspending a star will further solidify the commissioner's control over the league's players.

Vick is an inhumane asshole and should be suspended. If you do not suspend him then you are condoning his actions.

Mr. Vick's actions are disgusting and are far more gruesome and tragic than other reasons players have been kicked out of the NFL. Kick him out and send him to jail, where he belongs.
