Don't Deny Insurance Coverage for Pre-Existing Conditions

Target: Presidential Candidates
Sponsored by: Families USA
Currently many health insurance companies operate in a wild wild west of little or no rules or regulation - unfettered to cherry pick the healthiest and to deny coverage to those who need it the most.

How do insurance companies do this? They look for "pre-existing conditions" - then they can legally deny someone coverage because they have an imperfect bill of health. Insurers might also charge these individuals much higher premiums for their coverage.

Health insurance shouldn't be reserved only for the healthiest among us.

Make sure John McCain and Barack Obama get this message, and tell them they must include everyone in their plans for quality, affordable health care!

Dear Senator McCain and Senator Obama,

Nearly 50 million Americans have no health insurance at all, while the middle class is getting squeezed by skyrocketing health care costs.

Meanwhile, insurance companies will only cover the healthiest among us, denying people with pre-existing conditions the coverage they need.

[Your comment here]

I urge you to lead the charge for quality, affordable health care for all Americans, including those with pre-existing conditions.

Sincerely,
[Your name here]

It's time to side with the American people, and not rich powerful insurance companies.

Not one person on this earth should be denied coverage, for any reason; especially, as in these cases, the reasons behind the denials are pure greed. Karma is a real thing, and it's strong and never sleeps. It WILL come up and bite these greedy people where the sun don't shine, for treating their fellow humans in this matter. It's beyond shameful.

Yeah, & we need to start competing with other countries on our par who insure everyone. Why? It makes America look bad. We should care about our reputation to the world so that they can believe we have cause to be proud of our country. If we say we deliver the American dream then we ought to do what this petition is asking for as a part of it.

My little brother is dealing with this very issue right now. He has a pre-existing health problem, and he is finding it VERY difficult to get affordable health care, which just isn't fair!

Insurance is for people who are sick, not people who are in perfect health. No one would need health insurance if no one got sick--and those with preexisting conditions may need it most of all.

Health should not be a class issue.
